Who Inspired Us
Ladislav Hanus
Philosopher and theologian. Professor Hanus has ploughed a deep furrow in the field of theological thought by turning attention to human issues that need to be reflected upon theologically. God must be thought of in relation to man. The culture of man is Christian humanism. The culture of man cannot remain in its natural form, for it is man who is redeemed. Christian culture, on the other hand, is able to accommodate in its content all that is inherently good in man and can be inspired by it. Thus this thinker and theologian also became a great artist. Hanus's work testifies to the fact that Slovaks are capable of perceiving truth, culture and faith. And this is hope for Slovakia in a time of misunderstood pluralism and freedom, where the subjective is placed above the objective world. In order that the present generation, especially the young, student generation, should also know the personalities of their nation and continue their culture, that is why Ladislav Hanus was awarded the title of Doctor honoris causa, in memoriam, at the proposal of the Faculty of Arts of the KU. In order not to forget him.
Joseph Cardinal Tomko
We are inspired by his life, work and activities expressed in his words, "Seek ways of mutual understanding between people, because the goal is man. The key issue is the issue of life. (...) Lasting values must be saved." Therefore, on 26 April 2006, at the proposal of the Faculty of Arts of KU, Joseph Cardinal Tomko was awarded an honorary doctorate of the Catholic University of Ružomberok.
At the request of the Faculty of Arts of KU, Joseph Cardinal Tomko was awarded an honorary doctorate of the Catholic University of Ružomberok.
Anton Neuwirth
The importance of Anton Neuwirth lies in his contribution and contribution to the spread of the Christian faith, religious and political freedom and the international visibility of Slovakia in Europe and the world. Dr. Anton Neuwirth shines as a distinctive personality of modern Slovakia. We are inspired by his life and his message to our community: 'The Catholic University cannot be understood only as an institution of higher education established by the Catholic Church or according to its legal norms. Its raison d'être should be to integrate the positive elements of the classical university, with all the positives of contemporary higher education. (...) In the environment of the Catholic university, the knowledge of fundamental and religious truths becomes an experience again and again - an experience of God's presence not only in the personal lives of the students and professors, but quite specifically in their community with one another." On the proposal of the Faculty of Arts of KU, Anton Neuwirth was awarded an honorary doctorate of the Catholic University in Ružomberok on May 25, 2005.
