The meaning of terms beginning with the letters 2

The duration of studies shall be not less than one year and not more than three years, so that the standard duration of studies under a bachelor's degree programme and a subsequent second cycle programme in the same or a related field of study is not less than 5 years in total.

- SAIA
Slovak Academic Information Agency. A non-profit organization whose mission is to assist the development of education in Slovakia through programs and services. It informs the public about opportunities to study abroad and about support grants and scholarships.
- agility
It is a canine sport in which a dog overcomes obstacles with the help of a handler. Obstacles are placed on the parkour according to the judge. The handler and the dog overcome the obstacles on time and without crash points. It is a worldwide competition in which all breeds of dogs can take part.

The academic community of a university consists of university teachers and researchers who are employed by the university for a fixed weekly working time, other employees, if so determined by the statutes of the university (the employee part of the academic community), and students of the university (the student part of the academic community). The academic year begins on 1 September and ends on 31 August of the following calendar year. In terms of teaching, it is divided into two semesters, or three trimesters.
- Academic Senate
The Academic Senate of a public university is one of the four bodies of the academic self-government of a public university. It is composed of elected representatives of the academic community of the public university. It shall have at least 15 members, at least one third of whom shall be students. The Faculty Academic Senate shall have at least 11 members, at least one third of whom shall be students.

- accreditation
activity carried out by an accreditation commission. In the narrower sense of the word, it is the granting of the right to a higher education institution to hold state examinations in one of the accredited study programmes.
- Accreditation Commission
The Accreditation Commission is an advisory body of the Government of the Slovak Republic that monitors, assesses and independently evaluates the quality of educational, research, development, artistic and other creative activities of higher education institutions, and helps to improve it. It comprehensively assesses the conditions in which these activities are carried out at individual universities and draws up recommendations for improving the work of universities. The Accreditation Commission expresses its opinion on the eligibility of a higher education institution to carry out a study programme entitling its graduates to be awarded an academic degree, on the eligibility of a non-higher education institution to participate in the implementation of a doctoral study programme, on the eligibility of a higher education institution to carry out the habilitation procedure and the procedure for the appointment of professors. It shall also give its opinion on proposals for the establishment, merger, amalgamation, division, dissolution, change of name or change of seat of public and state universities or their faculties, on a proposal to grant state consent to a legal person to operate as a private university, on a proposal to include a university among university or non-university universities. The Accreditation Commission also carries out comprehensive accreditation of the activities of higher education institutions.

Accreditation of a study programme is a process in which the Accreditation Commission, an advisory body to the Government of the Slovak Republic, assesses the eligibility of a higher education institution to carry out a relevant study programme in a field of study. The Accreditation Commission shall communicate its opinion to the Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic, who shall subsequently decide on the right to award the corresponding academic degree to graduates of the study programme. Such a programme is called an accredited study programme in the Higher Education Act.

The meaning of terms beginning with the letters B
- bachelor thesis
The preparation of a bachelor thesis is mandatory for the successful completion of the bachelor degree. It is a comprehensive thesis (of approximately 30-60 A4 pages) on selected topics that must relate to the programme studied. It is necessary to choose a thesis supervisor from among the lecturers who provides professional supervision in the preparation of the Bachelor's thesis. The student may choose the topic of the thesis himself/herself, if approved by his/her supervisor. The thesis may take a whole year to complete. The student must submit the thesis bound in printed form and also present the results of his/her work and defend the thesis in front of the committee during the state examinations.

- Bologna Declaration
The result of the joint meeting of 29 ministers responsible for education (including the Minister of Education of the Slovak Republic), held on 19 June 1999 in Bologna, was a declaration called the Bologna Declaration. - lifelong learning
Lifelong learning that enables a person to acquire the knowledge necessary for life, work and civic activity. An academic officer who heads a faculty. He is responsible for the running of the faculty.

- Democracy
is a type of political system that allows all adults and full citizens to participate in the government, governance and management of the state. is an auxiliary historical science concerned with the treatment of old documents and papers as historical material. Diplomatics nowadays also examines other diplomatic categories namely mandates, letters, books, writings and accounting documents.

Similar to a bachelor's thesis, except that it is more extensive, and more emphasis is placed on the student's own contribution to the topic addressed. The master's thesis is prepared by students at the master's level.
- Disciplinary Board
one of the academic governing bodies of a public university or college. It hears disciplinary infractions of students and submits a proposal for a decision to the rector, or to the dean if it is a faculty disciplinary committee. Half of the members of the Disciplinary Board shall be students. Its work shall be governed by the rules of procedure of the Disciplinary Board.

Disciplinary measures include reprimand, suspension and expulsion. In the case of conditional exclusion from studies, a time limit and conditions shall be set, upon fulfilment of which the conditional exclusion shall be lifted.

is a process that enables an applicant who demonstrates that he or she meets specified conditions to become a student at a university and to study according to a chosen programme of study. It begins with the delivery of an application form to the college or faculty that runs the programme of study in question. The college or faculty may provide for an entrance examination as part of the verification that the applicant meets the specified conditions. The admission procedure for doctoral studies shall always include an entrance examination. The entrance examination may be written, oral or practical.

According to the Higher Education Act, a student may also complete part of his/her studies at another higher education institution as part of his/her study programme. The higher education institution that sends the student (or agrees to study at another higher education institution) is called the sending higher education institution; the one that accepts the student for part of his/her studies is the receiving higher education institution.

means eXtensible Markup Language, translated as extensible markup language, which was developed and standardized by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) as a continuation of SGML and HTML. It makes it easy to create specific markup languages for different purposes and a wide variety of different data types.
The language is primarily intended for exchanging data between applications and for publishing documents. The language allows the structure of a document to be described in terms of the substantive content of its parts, and is not concerned with the appearance of the document or part of the document itself. An advanced electronic signature (AES) is an electronic signature that places higher demands on the ability to verify the identity of the signatory. The signature must be unambiguously linked to the signatory, which makes it possible to detect additional changes to the data. At present, the enhanced signature is used by various applications (e.g. slovensko.sk) that use the Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). The basic operation is that the signer is assigned a key with which to sign a document and, through a private key, the identity is verified and a certificate issued that confirms this identity. The certificate is attached to the document being signed and contains, in addition to the signatory's details, the so-called public key.
