Learning objectives of the study programme
-
To have extensive scientific knowledge in the specialisation of teaching for the teaching of Slovak language and literature in secondary education.

To acquire not only professional and methodological knowledge, but also the skills and competences to independently formulate a scientific problem, to think relationally-analytically about the defined problem, to formulate professional topics and tasks with the subsequent output in the form of conclusions, proposals and recommendations for the optimal solution of the given problem in the field of teaching Slovak language and literature in theory and school practice.

On the basis of the acquired conceptual curriculum of teaching Slovak language and literature in undergraduate education to professionally plan, organize, manage the educational process in the specialization on the one hand, and to competently present the results of their own empirical observations, analyses and interpretations or generalizations before the professional community on the other hand.

To know the methodological context of empirical-applicational research in educational sciences in the context of one's work as a teacher of Slovak language and literature, and to communicate and collaborate effectively with the external environment in a narrower and broader context.

In connection with other key and specific competences of a teacher of Slovak language and literature in close connection with professional ethics, to evaluate oneself in the intent of developing self-reflective competence, in the perspective of lifelong learning and acquiring one's own authentic teacher profiling.

Graduate Profile
The graduate of the Master's degree programme of the Teacher of Slovak Language and Literature in Combined Studieshas a full university education and a degree in the field of studyTeaching and Educational Sciences.The graduate of the degree programme is prepared as a beginning pedagogical employee, a teacher of Slovak language and literature for secondary education. He/she has comprehensively mastered the conceptual curriculum at the level of objectives, knowledge, skills and competences with regard to the complexity of pedagogical work in the teenage age period of pupils, taking into account the diversity of the socio-cultural context. Able to work adequately with pedagogical documents in accordance with the educational programme of the particular school and its profile. Within the framework of inclusion, he/she is qualified to work with pupils with specific educational needs as well as with gifted pupils. The graduate is not only characterised by a considerable theoretical background to be able to justify and evaluate educational reality with intervention competence, but also has adequate empirical experience gained in undergraduate studies. He/she is prepared for continuous lifelong learning and profiling, including the use of modern information and communication technologies. As a graduate of the Master's degree programme in Teacher of Slavonic Language and Literature, he has a deep theoretical knowledge of the process of socialisation and education. He is familiar with the content of general education and the content of the disciplines of his specialisation. In addition to teaching competence, he is able to participate in the development of methodological materials for teaching. The graduate is able to exercise independently the profession of a teacher at the level of lower and upper secondary education or to work as a methodologist for the teaching of specific subjects and subject groups. He/she is able to design, implement and reflect on educational activities within his/her subject specialisation. He/she has knowledge and experience in the field of research methodology in educational sciences in general and in the didactics of his/her subject specialisation.The graduate of the Master's degree in Teacher Education is qualified to be a teacher of subjects belonging to his/her specialisation.

Teaching of SLOVAK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE in combination with a second subject
- obtaining a first (bachelor's) degree or a second (master's/engineering/doctoral) degree;
- commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
- evidence of a university degree of at least a first (Bachelor's) degree in "Teaching and Educational Sciences" or evidence of having passed the state examination in education;
- in the case of teaching study programmes in which one subject is provided by the Faculty of Education of KU, meet the admission requirements for this subject (the requirements are published on pf.ku.sk);
- demonstrate a level of Slovak language proficiency of at least B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference, if the applicant has received secondary education outside the Slovak Republic and has not at the same time completed at least the first (bachelor's) level of higher education in the study programme Teaching Slovak Language and Literature.
Additional information
The KU Faculty of Arts also offers the possibility of inter-faculty teaching combinations, i.e. the candidate can choose one subject from the offer of the KU Faculty of Arts and one subject from the offer of the KU Faculty of Education (accredited study programmes of the Faculty of Arts can be found at http://pf.ku.sk). Applicants for interfaculty programmes must meet the admission requirements from both teaching subject specialisations.
Handicapped applicants may request that the form and manner of the entrance examination be determined taking into account their handicap (written request to be sent with the application form).

Attention! If the applicant submits the application via portalvs.sk, the application must also be sent in paper form to the address of the faculty. In this case, the fee for material support of the admission procedure is 35 €.
The application form must be accompanied by:
a) confirmation of payment of the fee;
b) in the case of applicants for the study programme TEACHER OF SLOVAK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE in combination with a second teaching subject, who have obtained secondary education outside the Slovak Republic and have not at the same time completed university studies of at least the first (bachelor's) degree in the study programme Teacher of Slovak Language and Literature, also a certificate proving the level of proficiency in the Slovak language at the level of at least B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and Literature.
The following documents should be delivered to the study department (preferably at the time of application if possible):
a) certified copies of the documents of graduation (Bachelor's/Master's/Engineering/Doctoral diploma, supplement to the diploma and certificate of state examination), while applicants who have been issued the documents of graduation by the Faculty of Arts of KU (previous studies were completed at the Faculty of Arts of KU) do not need to submit them;
b)in the case of applicants who have obtained the required higher education abroad, also a decision on the recognition of the foreign document of education for the purpose of studying in the Slovak Republic.
Information about the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants by electronic or paper mail.
Deadline for verification of fulfilment of the admission requirements: by 15 June 2025
Written decision on the result of the admission procedure will be sent to applicants no later than 30 days after the verification of the fulfilment of the conditions of admission to the study. The written decision shall be delivered to the applicants in their own hands.
