Learning objectives of the study programme

To prepare highly qualified professionals for the profession of psychology in various areas of psychological practice, in academia, in institutions engaged in science, research, development and innovation.

Actively master the ability to integrate, critically evaluate, and apply knowledge gained about theories, approaches, and methods within the basic and applied psychological sciences and related disciplines.

Apply ethical principles of psychological practice and know research methods, procedures, and resources in the area of quality of life and mental health enhancement.

Acquire the cognitive and practical skills required to perform tasks and solve specific complex problems in the field of psychology.

Prospects of graduates
Graduate Profile
The graduate of the master's degree programme in psychology obtains a full university education with a degree in psychology.The graduate of the master's degree programme in psychology is proficient in knowledge and skills from key theoretical, but especially applied psychological disciplines (clinical psychology, occupational psychology, school psychology). He/she is a personality fully prepared to competently and competently exercise the profession of a psychologist. He/she is able to work creatively both individually and cooperatively, can lead teams, projects and take responsibility for complex solutions. He/she is prepared for both practical and scientific research career, while being able to apply the ethical principles of the profession. The study programme prepares the psychology graduate according to the requirements of the current labour market, while the graduate is prepared to work in any psychological field and wherever psychological activity is applied in society.

Conditions of admission to study for the study programme: psychology
- acquisition of a first (bachelor's) or second (master's) degree;
- commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and faculty;
- successful completion of the entrance examination, which consists of: passing an oral interview aimed at verifying knowledge within the scope of the single-subject Bachelor's degree in Psychology and at ascertaining personal and motivational prerequisites for the study of Psychology (maximum score 30, minimum score 15).
The final ranking of applicants is based on the results of the entrance examination.
Additional information
Health disadvantaged applicants may request that the form and method of the entrance examination be determined taking into account their disadvantage (a written request is sent together with the application form).

Attention! If the applicant submits the application via portalvs.sk, the application must also be sent in paper form to the address of the faculty. In this case, the fee for the material support of the admission procedure is 35 €.
The application form must be accompanied by:
a) confirmation of payment of the fee;
b) in the case of applicants for the study programme TEACHER OF SLOVAK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE in combination with a second teaching subject, who have obtained secondary education outside the Slovak Republic and have not at the same time completed university studies of at least the first (bachelor's) degree in the study programme Teacher of Slovak Language and Literature, also a certificate proving the level of proficiency in the Slovak language at the level of at least B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and Literature.
The following documents should be delivered to the study department (preferably at the time of application if possible):
a) certified copies of the documents of graduation (Bachelor's/Master's/Engineering/Doctoral diploma, supplement to the diploma and certificate of state examination), while applicants who have been issued the documents of graduation by the Faculty of Arts of KU (previous studies were completed at the Faculty of Arts of KU) do not need to submit them;
b)in the case of applicants who have obtained the required higher education abroad, also a decision on the recognition of the foreign document of education for the purpose of studying in the Slovak Republic.
Information about the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants by electronic or paper mail.
Deadline for verification of fulfilment of the admission requirements: by 15 June 2025
Written decision on the result of the admission procedure will be sent to applicants no later than 30 days after the verification of the fulfilment of the conditions of admission to the study. The written decision shall be delivered to the applicants in their own hands.
