Faculty of Management Science and Informatics offers an attractive combination of information technologies and management approaches. We are aware of the importance of technical knowledge in the world of Business and Trade. Nowadays it is crucial to be innovative, creative and to have expert knowledge at the same time. A brief history

Faculty of Management Science and Informatics is one of 7 faculties of University of Zilina (former University of Transport and Communications).  It was established by merging of the Department of Technical Cybernetics, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Communications Development and the Department of Mathematical Methods, the Department of languages and part of the Department of Transport Economics of  the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transportation and Communications.  The Academic Senate of University of Transport and Communication approved its establishment  on 11 July 1990. In 1996 the faculty was given its present name. 

General information about the faculty

The study programmes are interdisciplinary and have been created as a result of more than 20 years of successful practise in teaching of Cybernetics in Transport  and Communication at the former Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Faculty of Electrical Engineering of University of Transport and Communication in Zilina and more than 10 years of practise in study programmes Information and Operation Systems and Applied Mathematics at the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics.

The faculty activities are determined by new trends in information and communication technologies development with special emphasis on continuous interconnection between education, research and recruitment of graduates in the job market.

The main educational and professional activities are:

  • Suggestions and implementations of technical resources for information and organisational systems
  • Synthesis and designing of integrational information and organisational systems
  • Management, marketing, logistics, business and production process of transport and communication systems
  • Control and optimization in transporting of poeple and goods
  • Control and optimization in production of databases, transmission and processing of information
  • Matters of multimedia information systems and graphical information systems, simulation tools for communication networks and systems
  • Mathematical modelling

Accommodation and boarding

Accomodation

Student accommodation is offered to all prospective students who will be admitted for full time Bachelor´s degree study who don´t have a permanent residence in Žilina. You will need to submit an application for accommodation and to specify that enquiry in the electronic university application form. 

Accommodation fees:

41€ - 61€ per month

Boarding

All students are welcome to use the university food services. Fees for food are between 1,60 €  4,20 €.

Other services

CISCO Networking Academy is established within the faculty with more than 20 years of expertise. Students are offered a great opportunity to prepare for the industrial certification and get a CISCO certificate free of charge. In 2015 our Academy was awarded CCNP Academy Curriculum Excellence as the best Academy offering CCPN courses in Central Europe (Europe-Central/Russia/CIS Recipients). Other similarly oriented institutions established within the faculty are Juniper Academy and Fortinet Academy (focusing on networking security). CISCO CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA+, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, Fortinet NSE are all internationally acknowledged  certificates.

Another opportunity for students is to get an academic certificate Introduction ADOIT. Adoit is an enterprise architecture management tool.

Students can participate in various Erasmus+ mobilities and enter different international competitions.

The graduates have got sufficient skills and knowledge to run their own start-up business.

The first three years of your studies could be funded by a scholarship of up to €9,000. More information
