University of Presov (PU in Presov) is a public university and within the comprehensive accreditation it has defended its university status and its current classification as a university higher education institution. It is a member of the Danube Rectors Conference (DRC) and the European Universities Association (EUA), an organisation of European universities and national rectors' conferences whose main aim is to promote a unified system of higher education in Europe. PU Prešov is a co-founder of the Alliance of Central-Eastern European Universities (ACEU) and the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI). Within these consortia it participates in the preparation of joint study programmes and international cooperation projects. Membership in the European Association for Erasmus Coordinators enables the implementation of up-to-date strategies concerning student and teacher mobility.
In November 2011 PU v Prešove was awarded the prize for participation in the National Quality Award 2011 in the category C3 (other public sector organisations) as the only university in Slovakia.

The university not only has a wide range of study programmes, several of which are the best in the country, but also pays attention to scientific research activities. Three Centres of Excellence have been gradually established - the Centre of Excellence for Linguocultural Studies and Translation and Interpretation, the Centre of Excellence for Socio-Historical and Cultural-Historical Research and the Centre of Excellence for Animal and Human Ecology. We are currently participating in the preparation of a science and technology park under the leadership of the Technical University of Košice, which should result in the UNIPOLAB research and technology laboratories.

The University of Prešov has paid increased attention to building its brand in the past period. Its central slogan is "magis quam erudition", i.e. more than education. The aim is to provide our students and staff with a stimulating environment for personal development, which includes cultural and social enjoyment.
The University seeks to participate through its own artistic activities, which focus on literary-dramatic, visual and musical arts. The University is home to the Student Theatre of the Faculty of Arts, the P.A.D.A.K Theatre of the Faculty of Arts, the Iuventus Paedagogica Women's Choir, the University Folklore Ensemble Torysa, the Camerata Academica Chamber Orchestra, the Nostro Canto Mixed Choir, the St. Roman the Sladkopevec Choir, the Orthodox Divinity Faculty Choir, Piano Vocal, and the Accordion Quartet. The tradition of the Akademický Prešov festival continues successfully.
An essential part of academic life is the university media - the university radio Radio PaF, the university magazine NA PULZE, student Internet television Television Mediálka and the student online magazine UNIPO PRESS. In the field of spiritual development, the University Pastoral Centre is extremely diverse.
In the field of sports activities, there are active sports clubs Slávia PU Prešov, basketball club BK Akademik PU Presov, volleyball club VK MIRAD PU Presov and
