Profile and application of the graduate of the study field of philology, study programme Hungarian language and culture with a focus on translation and interpreting
The graduate obtains a 2nd degree in Translation and Interpreting with a specialization in Hungarian language and culture in combination with another foreign language. Graduates of the 2nd degree in Philology (Translation and Interpreting) have theoretical knowledge of the individual disciplines of translation and interpreting, and are proficient in the comparison of linguistic, cultural and social systems. The student is able to communicate adequately in a variety of linguistic styles, i.e. artistic, professional, journalistic, advertising, whether in written or oral form. Proficient in all procedures, skills, habits and strategies of artistic and professional translation, consecutive as well as simultaneous interpreting. Achieves a high degree of linguistic competence in both native and foreign languages and a high level of translation and interpreting competence. He has mastered the legal and economic aspects of translation as well as the praxeology of translation and interpreting. Graduates and students of the Hungarian language and culture programme participate in international professional events focusing on Hungarian language, literature and culture. Graduates find employment in regional and professional activities in the Central European region, where they can cooperate with national and scientific research organizations, as well as translators of professional and artistic texts, interpreters, publishing editors, employees of state authorities, international institutions.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
The condition of admission to the 2nd degree is the completion of baccalaureate studies in the relevant study programme by a state examination. Master's degree applicants should be proficient in the language, both written and verbal, to the extent of the knowledge and skills indicated in the profile of the graduate of the Bachelor's degree programmes.
Note: For study programmes that can be studied in combination at the same time, the requirements and dates of admission examinations of the PU faculty or PU university-wide departments that provide the respective accredited programme apply.
If the number of applicants exceeds the expected number of admitted applicants, preference will be given to applicants with a better weighted grade point average.
General information about the admission procedure
a) only one programme of study may be listed per application;b) applicants shall fill in the first 3 pages of the application form thoroughly, sign the application form and attach as part of the application form a signed CV and a certified copy of the documents of passing the state examination (diploma, certificate, supplement to the diploma) if they did not obtain it at the University of Prešov ;
c) before submitting an application for studies, the applicant with specific needs shall contact the university coordinator Mgr. Žolnová Jarmila, Ph.D., univer. doc.
