Industrial engineering (Priemyselné inžinierstvo)
Characteristics
A graduate of the Industrial Engineering programme in the 1st cycle of higher education possesses knowledge in the key areas of mechanical and industrial engineering. They can monitor, and control standard manufacturing processes and systems, identify process non-conformances, apply selected methods and techniques in the design, testing and validation of integrated parts of manufacturing and non-manufacturing processes, including the use of software support. Acquires knowledge and skills in advanced industrial technologies is able to further interpret in industrial practice based on innovative solutions building on additive technologies, technologies and software support for the design of manufacturing processes and systems. The graduate is competent in the analysis, modelling and simulation of manufacturing processes and systems in the context of digital industrial engineering and reverse engineering. The graduate of the industrial engineering study programme is able to systematically approach the solution of a problem of industrial practice (i.e. analyse, synthesise, deduce, induce individual elements of a system). The achieved knowledge, skills and competences are able to be applied primarily at the middle management level within the organisational structure of industrial enterprises.
Learning objectives
The industrial engineering study programme in the 1st cycle of higher education offers the opportunity to acquire competences in a cross-cutting scientific field focused primarily on the field of solving design, production, logistics, ergonomic problems of industrial practice and production management and control, in both practical and digital form. In the 1st stage of the university studies, the student will acquire the theoretical procedures of methods and techniques of industrial and digital engineering and will acquire knowledge of software applications that are part of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management). In the course of study, the student has the opportunity to verify their knowledge and skills on their own solutions using digital and virtual technologies. Students have the opportunity to work with virtual and augmented reality, 3D scanners and 3D printers, software support Tecnomatix, Sewio, etc. which are part of the laboratory equipment. The solution of semester and bachelor theses is possible in laboratory conditions and in companies of industrial practice, with which the Department of Industrial and Digital Engineering cooperates. The graduate of the 1st degree of the study programme of industrial engineering is ready to apply on the labour market in engineering and non-engineering companies of various orientations, development and design organizations, in commercial firms, in consulting firms, in the technical field of the public sector. It can also be realized as a designer of production processes and systems, as a worker in planning, organization and management of production, productivity improvement, logistics, human resources and, last but not least, as a manager in various functional areas.
