Dentistry

Dentistry is a separate medical program that focuses on the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the oral cavity and teeth. It mainly covers the two most frequently occurring chronic infectious diseases of the human population - dental caries and periodontopathies and their complications, as well as other conditions affecting the oral cavity and the maxillofacial region. The scope of knowledge of general medical disciplines is within the range necessary for the creation and promotion of health in general, with a special focus on oral health and disease in the context of the integrity of the whole body.



Prospects of graduates

Graduates can be employed in all facilities of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, in state and non-state health care facilities, in other functions, e.g. as a professional advisor within insurance companies, in management and organizational functions in the field of health care and pharmaceutical facilities, as well as in the field of pedagogy.

The required level of his/her skills and knowledge is in line with the Council Directive 78/686/EEC of the EU member states accepted by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Conditions of admission

Obtaining an overall score on the entrance examination and a bonus score, which will place the applicant among the maximum number of applicants to be admitted.

The total score is the sum of the following points:
- general aptitude test
- science test
- bonus (for secondary school Olympiads/competitions, English proficiency level C1/C2)

LFUC offers to applicants Materials for entrance examinations in biology and chemistry for a fee of 10 Eur/1 book. Conditions for admission of foreign students are the same as for students from the Slovak Republic - according to their success in the entrance exam

The applicant with specific needs sends together with the application for studies an application for adaptation of the entrance examination with the relevant professional medical documentation as well as the consent of the person concerned with the processing of personal data. After the specific needs have been assessed, the admission examination will be determined in accordance with Internal Regulation No. 23/2014. General information on the admission exam

Application:
- register your application electronically by 29.2.2024
- obtaining full secondary education or full secondary vocational education
- confirmation of medical fitness to study certified by a medical practitioner as an attachment to the electronic application for studies
A candidate can apply for each study programme both for studies in Slovak and for studies in English. Changes of study programmes in the registered applications for studies are not allowed after 29.02.2024.

The faculty does not require the indication of the grades from studies at secondary school.

Attachments:
- proof of identity (ID or passport)
- proof of payment of the fee
- doctor's certificate of medical fitness for studies
- officially certified copy of the school leaving certificate (verification of the front and back side by a notary public is required, respectively)
- notarized copy of the school leaving certificate (notarized copy of the school leaving certificate is required).
- Applicants who will graduate from secondary school in the current school year 2023/2024 are required to upload a scan of their high school diploma as soon as it is obtained.
- Applicants who have completed their secondary education at a foreign secondary school shall submit a "Decision on Recognition of Education Document" (called Nostrification) issued by the Regional Office of School Administration in the Slovak Republic
- Applicants with specific needs shall upload an application for adaptation of the entrance examination with the relevant professional medical documentation

Without the required documents, the application for studies is invalid.

Special date of the entrance examination may be granted by the dean to an applicant who requests it in writing and documents the reason for absence from the regular date. The reason may be a sudden illness, studying abroad if it is a preparation for study at the LFUC or the applicant's participation in an entrance examination at another faculty of the Charles University in Bratislava or at another university in the Slovak Republic. A documented request for an alternative date shall be sent by the applicant to the address of the faculty only after the receipt of the invitation to the entrance examination.

The faculty will refund the remaining part of the fee in the amount of EUR 80.00 to the applicant only in the case of a written cancellation of the application by 29 February 2024 at the latest. If the applicant is unable to attend the entrance examination, the faculty will not refund the fee.



Form of entrance exam

Online and online, in the form of a test in cooperation with the contractual partner SCIO, s.r.o. www.scio.cz

  • general aptitude test, focusing on the basic skills needed for successful study at university

The fee of 27€/test is paid by the applicant (the test can also be used for entrance exams to other universities). Scio will be sent a database of applicants by LF UK. The test can be repeated. Scio Ltd. will send the best result to LF UK.

  • test of natural sciences within the scope of the secondary school curriculum in the subjects of biology and chemistry

The entrance examination is held separately for each study programme. The result of the entrance examination for one study programme cannot be accepted for the other study programme.



Tests
  • general aptitude test, focused on the basic skills necessary for successful study at university:
    - verbal part - 35 minutes, 33 tasks
    - analytical part - 50 minutes, 33 tasks
  • science test within the scope of the secondary school curriculum in the following subjects:
    - biology (100 questions)
    - chemistry (100 questions)

In the face-to-face form of the entrance examination, the test takes 3 hours, in the online form, the test takes 2.5 hours.
