Dentistry
The dental graduate has adequate knowledge of the theoretical, preclinical and clinical disciplines of dentistry. He/she is able to provide health care at the appropriate level of the organisational structure under the professional guidance of an experienced doctor, is also prepared to work in primary health care, is familiar with the basic principles and organisation of health care, the basic medical legal standards necessary for the exercise of the profession, and thus acquires the prerequisites for obtaining the requisite competence after the completion of the prescribed internship, post-graduate studies and examinations. Graduates can be employed in all institutions of the Ministry of Health, in state and non-state health care institutions, in other functions, e.g. as a professional advisor within insurance companies, as a medical review doctor, in management and organisational functions in the health care sector, as well as in the field of pedagogy. Graduates of the Dentistry for Regulated Professions programme are granted automatic recognition of their diploma in EU countries under current legislation.

1) The basic condition for admission to studies of combined 1st and 2nd degree in full-time form is the acquisition of complete secondary education or complete secondary vocational education and medical fitness for the exercise of profession.
(2) Another condition for admission to the combined 1st and 2nd cycle full-time course is the completion of an admission procedure, including a national comparative examination and including a manual skills test.
(3) The admission procedure must be completed in order to be admitted to the combined 1st and 2nd cycle full-time course.
3) The criterion for admission to the combined 1st and 2nd cycle full-time studies in the Slovak language shall be the total score obtained in the admission procedure after passing the entrance examination, which shall place the applicant among the maximum number of candidates to be admitted.
The total points gained in the admission procedure is the sum of the points from:
a) the National Comparative Examination (NCE)
b) performance during secondary school
c) other activities
(d) the manual skills test (SMZ)

The faculty requires electronic registration of the application form according to the instructions published on the faculty's website www.jfmed.uniba.sk under the applicants section.
Knowledge in the range of secondary school curriculum is required, the faculty will send detailed information about the admission procedure in March 2025.
Form of entrance exam
The National Comparative Examination (NCE) for the study programmes of the combined 1st and 2nd degree in the Slovak language is provided by the company responsible for their testing.
The NPS will take the form of a test in the subjects of chemistry and biology (a test in natural sciences) and a test of general study prerequisites.
In the case of the dentistry programme, the entrance examination consists of a manual dexterity test in addition to the NPS testing. The manual dexterity test consists in the practical cutting out of a copy of a specified model (template) from a plaster block using the supplied modelling tools (modelling knives, lekrons) in a set time of 180 minutes, followed by computerised comparison of the conformity of the created work with the original template using a 3D scanner and specific software.
