General Medicine
General Medicine is an undergraduate program providing a general science education that is grounded in the humanities and ethics. The content of teaching is the theoretical foundations of the anatomical structure of the organism and its physiological functions. On this basis is built further teaching of the basic principles of aetiology and pathogenesis of disease states and methods of treatment. The study is rounded off with comprehensive teaching focused on diagnosis, differential diagnosis, therapy and prevention of diseases. Within the framework of undergraduate education, a student of the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University acquires solid theoretical and practical knowledge of a general nature, which enables him to think scientifically in medicine and to further deepen his education in any field of specialization.
Prospects of graduates
Graduates can be employed in all facilities of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic, in state and non-state health care facilities, in other functions, e.g. as a professional advisor within insurance companies, as a review doctor, in management and organizational functions in the field of health care and pharmaceutical facilities, as well as in the field of pedagogy.
General Medicine graduates meet the requirements of the European Directive 2005/36/EC, which allows citizens of the European Union to practise medicine in all EU Member States.

The basic condition for admission to the study is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education.
Another condition for admission is:
- obtaining an overall score from the entrance examination and a bonus, on the basis of which the applicant will be included among the maximum planned number of admitted applicants
- demonstrating that the applicant meets the medical eligibility to study
The total score is the sum of the following points:
- general aptitude test
- science test
- bonification (for secondary school olympiads/competitions, English proficiency level C1/C2)

A candidate with specific needs sends an application for adaptation of the entrance examination with the relevant professional medical documentation as well as the consent of the person concerned for the processing of personal data together with the application form. After the specific needs have been evaluated, the admission examination will be determined in accordance with the Internal Regulation No. 23/2014 - Directive of the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava. Conditions for international students
Conditions of admission to study in Slovak language for international students are the same as for students from the Slovak Republic - according to their success in the entrance exam.

Application:
- register your application electronically by 28.2.2025
- obtaining full secondary education or full secondary vocational education
- confirmation of medical fitness to study certified by a general practitioner as an attachment to the electronic application for studies
A candidate can apply for each study programme both for studies in Slovak and for studies in English. Changes of study programmes in the registered applications for studies are not allowed after 28.02.2025.
The faculty does not require the indication of the grades from studies at secondary school.
Attachments:
- proof of identity (ID or passport)
- proof of payment of the fee
- doctor's certificate of medical fitness for studies
- officially certified copy of the school leaving certificate (verification of the front and back side by a notary public is required, respectively)
- notarized copy of the school leaving certificate (notarized copy of the school leaving certificate is required).
- Applicants who graduate from secondary school in the current school year are obliged to upload a scan of their school leaving certificate as soon as it is obtained.
- Applicants who have acquired secondary education at a foreign secondary school shall submit a "Decision on recognition of the educational document" (so-called Nostrification) issued by the Regional Office of School Administration in the Slovak Republic
- Applicants with specific needs shall upload an application for adaptation of the entrance examination with the relevant professional medical documentation
Without the required documents, the application for studies is invalid.
The faculty will only refund the faculty's portion of the fee of EUR 80.00 to the applicant in the event of a written cancellation of the application by 28 February 2025 at the latest. If the applicant is unable to attend the entrance examination, the faculty will not refund the fee.
Form of entrance exam
The entrance exam consists of the following parts:
1. General Studies Prerequisites Test (GST)
- it is conducted in a face-to-face or online form in cooperation with the contractor SCIO, s. r. o. www.scio.sk
2. Science Test
- conducted exclusively in a face-to-face format
The entrance examination is held separately for each study programme. The result of the entrance examination for one study programme cannot be accepted for the other study programme.

- General aptitude test, focused on the basic skills necessary for successful study at university:
- verbal part - 35 minutes, 33 tasks
- analytical part - 50 minutes, 33 tasks
- Science test within the scope of the secondary school curriculum in the following subjects:
- Biology (100 questions)
- Chemistry (100 questions)
