General medicine (Slovak language)
The graduate knows the basic principles of medicine and is able to apply these in his/her profession, knows the basic methods of medical examination using simple instrumentation and basic laboratory and examination methods and their interpretation, including diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment of commonly occurring diseases. In life-threatening conditions, it also covers the basics of providing skilled assistance. Under the expert guidance of an experienced physician, he or she is able to provide medical care at the appropriate level of the organisational structure, is prepared for work in primary health care, is familiar with the basic principles and organisation of health care, and the basic medical legal standards necessary for the exercise of the profession, thereby acquiring the prerequisites for obtaining specialisation in individual medical disciplines or for employment in medical research after completing the prescribed internship, postgraduate studies and examinations. Graduates of the study programme in General Medicine for the preparation of a regulated profession are granted automatic recognition of the diploma in EU countries within the framework of the legislation in force.

1) The basic condition for admission to the study of the combined 1st and 2nd degree in full-time form is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education and medical fitness for the exercise of a profession.
2) Another condition for admission to the combined first and second cycle full-time course is the completion of an admission procedure, including a national comparative examination.
3) The criterion for admission to the combined 1st and 2nd cycle full-time studies in the Slovak language is the total score in the admission procedure after passing the entrance examination, which will place the applicant among the maximum number of candidates to be admitted.
The total points gained in the admission procedure is the sum of the points from:
a) the National Comparative Examination (NCE)
b) performance during secondary school
c) other activities

The faculty requires electronic registration of the application form according to the instructions published on the faculty website www.jfmed.uniba.sk, in the applicants section.
Knowledge of the secondary school curriculum is required, the faculty will send confirmation of the application form and information about the admission procedure in March 2025.
