Applicants for admission to the first degree programme must have completed secondary education and possess the intellectual and personal prerequisites for successful completion of higher education at the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University. Candidates for study at PF KU are committed to respecting the Catholic spirit of the University and the Faculty. Applicants to study Physical Education must possess competences, especially in the biological sciences, communication, organisational and management skills, use of information and communication technologies and mathematical literacy. In the motor field, they must have mastered a wide range of motor activities and demonstrate an adequate level of fitness and coordination skills and the ability to learn new movements (motor aptitude).
Candidates are required to take an active approach to their studies by attending lectures, seminars and exercises, studying independently and improving their motor skills. In terms of personal qualities, applicants are expected to be motivated to study their chosen field, flexible, responsible, empathetic and interested in working with a diverse age population and in their own self-development.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
- obtaining a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education (Section 56, paragraph 1 of the Higher Education Act);
- respecting the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
- for the teacher education, art education, music education, musical arts and physical education study programmes, successful completion of a talent examination is required (see the section on talent examinations);
- other study programmes - without an entrance examination and without a talent examination.
The ranking of applicants will be based on the following rules:
- The average value of grades in the subjects of the matriculation examination will be calculated for the applicant. This value shall be multiplied by the coefficient of the secondary school from which the applicant has graduated:
coefficient 1 for grammar school,
coefficient 2 for vocational secondary school,
coefficient 3 for vocational secondary school with matriculation.
- In the case of talent examinations, the grades shall be calculated as follows:
50% for the results at secondary school and 50% for the talent examination.
- The grade shall be calculated as follows.
The resulting value shall determine the candidate's position in the merit ranking.
If a greater number of applicants meet the admission requirements for a given program of study, then those applicants who have demonstrated the highest level of aptitude for the program according to the admission requirements will be admitted.
The number of admitted students may be adjusted for the academic year 2024/2025 according to the interest in the study and according to the possibilities of the PF KU.
The University guarantees accommodation in dormitories for first year students of Bachelor studies.

Students with specific needs are advised to contact the KU Counselling Centre (poradna@ku.sk) in order to obtain qualified information about the requirements and conditions of studies well in advance before applying for university studies.
INFORMATION ON ADMISSION:
If the applicant wishes to apply for more than one study programme, he/she must apply for each programme separately.
The application form must be accompanied by:
- CV;
- a certified copy of the matriculation certificate;
- an applicant for the study programme of teaching in the combination of: biology, geography, chemistry, computer science, mathematics or computer science single-subject, shall also submit a certified copy of the secondary school certificate of the last year of study,
- proof of payment of the fee, which must be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form. Without proof of payment, the application will not be registered. The admission fee is non-refundable!;
- the applicant for the study programme Preschool and Elementary Pedagogy shall also submit a medical certificate of the ability to take physical education without limitations and a certificate from a professional employee - speech therapist that the applicant does not have impaired communication skills;
- the applicant for the study programme Physical Education Teacher shall also submit a medical certificate of medical fitness;
- an applicant for the study programme Special Education and Education of the Mentally Handicapped shall submit a certificate from a speech therapist stating that his/her pronunciation is correct and that he/she does not have any type of impaired communication skills;

- applicants who for health reasons require specific conditions, inform the faculty in writing when submitting their application;
- in the case of applicants who have obtained their secondary education abroad, also a decision on the recognition of a foreign document of education from secondary school for academic purposes and the transfer of grades to the Slovak grading scale - equivalence (more information on the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic: https://www.minedu.sk/ in the section Recognition of documents);
- in the case of an applicant who has been granted asylum, subsidiary protection or temporary refuge, the condition of attainment of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education for the purpose pursuant to Section 56(2) of the Higher Education Act may be demonstrated by an affidavit and a test of general prerequisites. The details shall be determined by the internal regulations of the Catholic University.
Confirmation of the registration of the application and information on the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants in writing. In case of a small number of applicants for the study of teaching in one of the subject combinations, the faculty will propose applicants to study in other combinations.

The talent exam in music education or music arts consists of a practical part and an interview with the candidate.

The Art Talent Examination consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. Students demonstrate their theoretical knowledge in the art history exam, which focuses on historical or contemporary issues in the visual arts. The practical exam consists of active creative work, which is realized from the surface art disciplines and from the spatial art disciplines. The student carries out the practical examination on a topic and in a technique that is announced at the time of the entrance examination. The practical examination includes a presentation of the candidate's portfolio in intermedia, design and craft, surface art disciplines and spatial art disciplines.
Physical education aptitude test is aimed at testing the following:
- fitness level: 50 m run and 12 min. endurance run,
- sport specific skills: gymnastic routine (forward roll, backward roll, fly roll, handstand, handstand, scapular stand),
- swimming ability: 50 m swim (crawl or breaststroke).
