Physical education teacher (in combination)

Applicants for admission to the first degree programme must have completed secondary education and possess the intellectual and personal prerequisites for successful completion of higher education at the Faculty of Education of the Catholic University. Candidates for study at PF KU are committed to respecting the Catholic spirit of the University and the Faculty. No discriminatory criteria in terms of age, nationality, gender, political or religious beliefs will be applied in the selection of applicants.
Applicants to study Physical Education must possess competences, especially in the biological sciences, communication, organisational and management skills, use of information and communication technologies and mathematical literacy. In the motor field, they must have mastered a wide range of motor activities and demonstrate an adequate level of fitness and coordination skills and the ability to learn new movements (motor aptitude).
Candidates are required to take an active approach to their studies by attending lectures, seminars and exercises, studying on their own and improving their motor skills. In terms of personal qualities, applicants are expected to be motivated to study their chosen field, flexible, responsible, empathetic and interested in working with a diverse age population and in their own self-development.

Conditions of admission

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
-
-
acquisition of complete secondary education or complete secondary vocational education (§56, par. 1 of the Higher Education Act);
-
respect for the Catholic spirit of the university and the faculty;
-
-
for the teacher education, art education, music education and music arts programs, successful completion of a talent examination is required (see Talent Examinations section);
-
-
for the study programme Special Education and Education of the Mentally Handicapped, successful completion of an entrance interview is required (see section Admission Interviews);
-
-
other study programmes - without an entrance exam and without a talent exam.
The ranking of applicants will be based on the following rules:
-
The average value of the marks in the subjects of the matriculation examination will be calculated for the applicant. That value shall be multiplied by the coefficient of the secondary school from which the applicant has graduated:
coefficient 1 for a grammar school,
coefficient 2 for a vocational secondary school,
coefficient 3 for a vocational secondary school with a matriculation diploma.

In the case of study programmes where passing the talent test is a condition (music education teacher, music art teacher, art education teacher), passing the admission interview (special education and education of the mentally handicapped), the ranking of applicants will be made after adding the points for the talent test or the admission interview.
The resulting value determines the applicant's position in the ranking.
If a greater number of applicants meet the admission requirements for a given study programme, those applicants who have demonstrated the highest level of aptitude for the study according to the admission requirements will be admitted.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS:
If an applicant wishes to apply for more than one study programme, he/she must apply for each programme separately.
The application form must be accompanied by:

a curriculum vitae;

a certified copy of the matriculation certificate;

an applicant for the study programme Teacher Education in the combination of: biology, geography, chemistry, computer science, mathematics or computer science single-subject, shall also provide a certified copy of the secondary school certificate of the last year of study,

proof of payment of the fee. Without proof of payment, the application will not be registered. The admission fee is non-refundable!;

The applicant for the study programme Preschool and Elementary Education shall also submit a medical certificate of the ability to take physical education without limitations and a certificate from a speech therapy examination on correct pronunciation and the absence of any kind of impaired communication skills;

The applicant for the study programme Physical Education Teaching shall also submit a medical certificate of the medical ability to take physical education without limitations;

applicants for the study programme Special Education and Education of the Mentally Handicapped shall submit a confirmation from a speech therapy examination of correct pronunciation and absence of any kind of impaired communication ability;

Applicants who require specific conditions for health reasons are advised to contact the KU Counselling Centre (poradna@ku.sk) in order to obtain qualified information about the demands and conditions of study well in advance of applying for university studies;

Confirmation of application registration and information about the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants in writing. In case of a small number of applicants for the study of teaching in one of the subject combinations, the faculty will propose applicants to study in other combinations.

ADMISSIONS INTERVIEWS:
The admissions process in Special Education and Education of the Developmentally Disabled focuses on the applicant's general overview, seriousness and also depth of interest in the study of Special Education. During the admission interview, the applicant's level of content and formal communication with the committee members will also be monitored, with an emphasis on spoken language. If the applicant has extracurricular activities in the sense of volunteering, personal assistance and helping a person with a disability, he/she can submit the certificates/proofs to the committee for inspection.

The Art Talent Examination consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. Theoretical knowledge is demonstrated by students in the exam in art history, which focuses on historical or contemporary issues in the visual arts. The practical exam consists of active creative work, which is realized from the surface art disciplines and from the spatial art disciplines. The student carries out the practical examination on a topic and in a technique that is announced at the time of the entrance examination.

The practical examination includes a presentation of the candidate's portfolio in intermedia, design and craft, surface art disciplines and spatial art disciplines.
