Teaching of Subjects of Informatics
General characteristics
The scope of the study programme follows from the fields of study 1.1.1 Teaching of academic subjects and 9.2.1 Computer Science.
During the course of study, the graduate will acquire the most important knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for teaching academic subjects. He/she is able to expand his/her knowledge and skills in his/her specialisation throughout his/her life and is able to follow new developments in the rapidly evolving disciplines of computer science. He/she has adequate knowledge of research methods and developments in the didactics of computer science. The graduate is able to pursue new knowledge in the rapidly developing disciplines of computer science. The graduate is proficient in the professional content of the disciplines of informatics as a specific area of human cognition, and is able to work actively with this knowledge and use it in his/her pedagogical practice. He/she is able to apply the acquired knowledge appropriately in his/her work.
Theoretical knowledge
The weight of the educational process on the theoretical level lies on lectures and partly seminars. The graduate has knowledge of applied disciplines of computer science, which broadens his/her field of knowledge. He/she masters the current theoretical models of cognitive socialization and human education. He/she is provided with adequate theoretical knowledge necessary to operate in a school environment. In the course of their studies, students should acquire a basic knowledge of the theoretical disciplines of computer science and an overview of its current trends and the ability to navigate the professional computer science literature. Graduates should have an adequate knowledge of advanced mathematics for computer scientists, theoretical and methodological foundations of computer science, information security, computer graphics, information systems and artificial intelligence. He/she shall be able to have a basic orientation in the economic, social, moral and legal contexts of computer science.
Practical Skills
Practical skills are acquired by the graduate of the discipline in seminars and practicals. A graduate of level 2 of the degree programme can apply the acquired basic theoretical and methodological knowledge in key areas of computer science to the design of system configurations from off-the-shelf computer-based modules in a way that demonstrates an understanding of the context and implications of alternative design decisions, and can apply appropriate theory, practices and tools to the installation, implementation, operation and evaluation of information and communication technology systems. In the course of the Master's thesis, the student is expected to become a specialist in the subject matter and thus prepare for the profession of computer science teacher. Teaching practice is also an important complement to the educational process. Seminars should demonstrate the practical application of theoretical knowledge, while the assignment of seminar work is monitored by the ability of the listener for independent creative work and the handling of available, preferably up-to-date, literature and sources.
It is important to lead students to think analytically and synthetically, to acquire new knowledge and to evaluate it critically, to learn to argue critically and to be able to take and defend their own opinion on a problem. The student will acquire the ability to analyze systems in terms of their complexity and efficiency and to design appropriate algorithmic solutions for critical components, to specify, design, implement and maintain modern software systems, and to analyze and modify existing software systems. Students of the department are able to publish the results of their scientific research activities in the form of scientific and professional papers.
