The main subject is Didactics of Geography and related units of the compulsory and compulsory elective part of the study plan (Pedagogical Practice, Use of Multimedia in Geographical Education, Regional Education). The mastery of the subject is conditioned by the successful mastery of geography and pedagogical psychological foundation in the Bachelor's degree. The second group of units of the study programme is focused on regional geography taken in the context of the content and focus of school geography in primary and secondary schools (Regional Geography of the Slovak Republic, Regional Geography of Continents and, in the compulsory optional part, Geography of the World Ocean and Geography of Biblical Countries). The aim of teaching this group of subjects is to complement the knowledge base from the Bachelor's degree in the topics that form the core of knowledge in geography at primary school and for the beginning of practical work of students with didactic applications of the course seems to be the most suitable. A special position in this group of subjects is occupied by the subject Geography of the local region, which has an integrative function for the entire Master's degree programme. The third subject area focuses on geoecology and the environment (compulsory Geoecology and Environmental Science and compulsory electives Geohazards and Geopotentials, Environmental Problems of Central Europe, Selected Chapters in Physical Geography 2 and Geographical Problems of Quality of Life). In addition to incorporating knowledge of these issues in primary and secondary school geography, it is also about more generally influencing future graduates in the field of environmental education and building an argumentative base for a philosophy of sustainable living. The fourth group of compulsory elective courses Methods of Geographical Research, Thematic Cartography and the elective course Geographical Information Systems is mainly devoted to deepening the knowledge of the tools of geographical cognition necessary also for the quality work on the Master's thesis, at the same time they expand the set of tools for the use of the acquired education in practice.
