Theory of Technology and Management in Civil Engineering
The graduate masters scientific methods in the field of building technology theory, construction economics, and construction management. Based on a detailed overview of the current state of the issues both domestically and internationally, they address scientific problems with an emphasis on the efficiency of managing construction processes. They focus on the ability to clearly formulate a scientific problem, the subject and objectives of research and development in the areas of technology, economics, and management in construction, and to tackle the formulated problem while being aware of the social, ethical, legal, and economic contexts of scientific work. Their knowledge includes the application of economic and mathematical optimization models to support the hypotheses presented in the given problem. The graduate is capable of clearly articulating the contributions of research outputs to the development of the field of study and to construction practice.
Prospects of graduates
The graduate of the doctoral study program in building technology conducts scientific research and provides their own solutions in the areas of building technology theory, modeling of the construction process, use and disposal of buildings with a focus on property management and the economic and technological aspects of building disposal, utilization of new generation construction materials for sustainable building, construction quality throughout the life cycle of a building, including the use of management systems and new technologies for the construction and renovation of buildings. They can find employment at university institutions, research and development centers, governmental bodies (such as ministries, EU fund coordinators, etc.), and international consulting firms (focusing on the management of technical and investment risks).

The basic requirement for admission to doctoral studies is the completion of a Master's degree program or a program according to § 53 para. 3 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended. Another requirement is a sufficient knowledge of one foreign language (at the candidate's choice) and successful completion of the admission procedure. For graduates from other fields, the structure of completed subjects in the study program and their professional and research activities that ensure their ability to continue in doctoral studies will be evaluated.
Additional information
The admission exam consists of a language component and a subject component.
The language component of the exam is conducted in the form of a test. Its purpose is to assess the knowledge of a foreign language.
The subject component of the exam is conducted in the form of a professional presentation (10-12 slides) dedicated to the topic of the dissertation that the candidate is applying for. The candidate may consult the content of the presentation with their thesis advisor. The academic quality of the presentation is evaluated by a committee for the admission process in the respective study program.

Form of entrance exam
Admission to doctoral studies is conducted through an admission procedure. This includes an entrance exam, which the candidate is required to take on the day of the admission process. The exam has two parts: a language component and a subject component. Based on the results of these parts, the admission committee for the respective study program will decide whether to recommend the candidate for admission or not. The final decision regarding admission or rejection for the program rests with the dean of the faculty.
