Mineral industry extraction and engineering technologies

The Mineral Extraction and Engineering Geotechnologies study program will provide graduates with a broader professional profile, with comprehensive high-quality knowledge in the areas of mining processes and mining systems, technical systems and technological processes in the construction and operation of tunnels, but also natural dynamic processes that are related to technical problems. Graduates know and know how to use scientific and research methods that can be used to describe rock massifs, the geotechnical stability of the underground space, but also the course of technological processes and systems in the extraction and acquisition of raw materials, as well as environmental processes or their impact by mining. In the doctoral study program, graduates in the individual form of study are profiled for scientific and research work from those applicable in the field of technical and engineering use of the underground. The graduate of the doctoral study master the methods and methodological procedures used in theoretical and applied research in the field of research of interactive bonds in the rock environment. Above all, it is an investigation of interactions - a disconnection tool - rock, rock - reinforcing technical element, rock - disconnected technological material, free rock space - filling material and rock - open space. Observation, technical analysis and evaluation of technological processes during these interactions is the main subject of research and scientific research of the graduate. The cross-sectional nature of mineral extraction and engineering geotechnologies does not exclude the employment of graduates in other branches of industry.

Prospects of graduates

A graduate of the doctoral studies – Philosophie doctor of mining masters the scientific methods of research and investigation of phenomena, knows the laboratory techniques of research work, at the same time can formulate and define problems related to the detailed investigation of mining processes and mining systems, technical systems and technological processes in the construction and operation of tunnels, but also natural dynamic processes that are related to technical problems. Knows and knows how to use scientific and research methods that can be used to describe the rock massif, the geotechnical stability of the underground space, but also the course of technological processes and systems in mining and obtaining raw materials, as well as environmental processes or their impact by mining. In the doctoral study program, graduates in the individual form of study are profiled for scientific and research work from those applicable in the field of technical and engineering use of the underground. Within the study program, doctoral students have an excellent opportunity for individual theoretical research and practical verification of proposed solution procedures or methodologies, especially in the research of specific interactive bonds in the field of solving stability problems, in the field of rock separation, as well as in the field of the theory of explosives and their use in the extraction of raw materials and the construction of tunnels.

Conditions of admission

Dissertation topics and abstracts are published on the faculty's website. A completely filled-in application for doctoral studies, supported by the necessary prescribed components, indicating the study program and one dissertation topic, selected from the list of published published dissertation topics in the relevant study program, together with the supervisor's name (§ 54 paragraphs 5, 6), it is possible to submit electronically through the IS MAIS e-application system or in WRITING FORM.

The applicant must also document the completed e-application in its paper form, which can be printed via the TUKE e-application applicant interface. The printed e-application or the classic written application, including the mandatory documents, must be delivered to the Department for VVČ and ZS and education in III. FBERG TUKE degree. The applicant is obliged to provide data on all his previous and uncompleted doctoral studies (enrolment for study) in the application. In case of failure to provide true or complete data in the application, this application and any decision on acceptance will be considered invalid.

Additional information

The admission procedure for the study of doctoral study programs has the character of a selection procedure. The entrance exam (Section 57, paragraph 3 of the Act) consists of a test in a foreign language (English, German, French or Russian) and a professional part.
