Waste processing and recycling
The aim of the study programme is to educate graduates in environmental engineering with a broad theoretical knowledge, based on the fundamentals of chemistry and other natural sciences, in the treatment of solid waste from various industries, as well as municipal waste.

Graduate Profile
- obtains a comprehensive education in the field with a focus on the treatment and recycling of industrial and municipal solid waste,
- has theoretical knowledge of waste treatment technologies, especially in metallurgical and related industries,
- is able to use the knowledge acquired in the collection, sorting, treatment and recycling of waste,
- is able to analyse the impact of waste on the environment and the quality of human life,
- is prepared for the study of a level III study programme
Application:
- as a technologist and manager in all areas of industry but also in the municipal sphere, where waste is generated and subsequently has to be recovered or disposed of,
- as an independent and managerial worker in government institutions in environmental departments, statistical departments and monitoring stations for soil, water and air quality,
- in public or private institutions dealing with waste treatment and recycling, not only in the territory of the Slovak Republic,
- may be engaged in the collection, sorting, recycling and treatment of waste.

The basic condition for admission to the study of engineering study programmes (the second degree of higher education) is successful completion of the first degree study programme. Admission to the study programme is carried out in the form of a selection procedure on the basis of the results in the bachelor's study programme.
The Faculty reserves the right to decide whether the content of the first degree programme completed by the applicant corresponds to the requirements for the study of the relevant second degree programme and, consequently, to decide on the prescription of differential courses or on the non-admission of the applicant

Study programmes in the external form are charged EUR 600.-/year.
A graduate of engineering studies may continue his/her studies at the 3rd level of higher education, e.g. in the following study programmes:

Conditions for international students
International students are admitted on the basis of international agreements or as self-payers. As a rule, foreign students study in English. The conditions of study are laid down in the study agreement. Successful completion of language and vocational training for foreign students is a prerequisite. Students from the Czech Republic may use the Czech language.

Engineering applicant:in(k) application form
- submits a state examination certificate, a bachelor's diploma and a transcript of the results of previous university studies, or a supplement to the diploma (certified copies), which may be submitted additionally after the state examination, before the admission deadline.
- states the study programme, it is recommended to indicate an alternative study programme
- short curriculum vitae and proof of payment of the admission fee. The fee should be paid to the account of the Technical University of Košice, Faculty of Metallurgy, Letná 9, 042 00 Košice, Bank. 7000151476/8180. The stub of the U-type postal order should be glued on the 3rd page of the application form.
- The applicant is notified of the result of the admission procedure by registered letter within 30 days at the latest.
- Accepted applicant has the possibility to apply for accommodation in the TU Student House at Jedlíkova 5 in Košice (accommodation is allocated on the basis of criteria set by the Technical University in 2 to 3 bed rooms with sanitary facilities).
