Learning objectives of the study programme

  1. To master the theoretical foundations of the field of psychology and its broader (and non-psychological) contexts, with the option of studying other follow-on masters programmes.

  1. To become critically oriented in the concepts and approaches of contemporary psychology, to acquire basic knowledge and skills in theoretical, special and applied disciplines, and to know how to use them in practice.

  1. To know the methods and forms of work with a person in need of social-psychological assistance; to be able to carry out assistance work in connection with the practical mastery of the skills of psychological diagnostics in the analysis of problems at the level of the individual, groups and society.

  1. To solve professional tasks creatively and conceptually, to acquire professional, social and communicative competencies and to form personal maturity.

The graduate of the bachelor's degree programme inpsychologyobtains a complete first-degree university education in the field of studypsychology.The graduate of the bachelor's degree programme inpsychologyis oriented in the basic psychological disciplines, subdisciplinesand other disciplines related to psychology.He/she is adequately orientedin theoretical, special and applied psychological disciplines, knows their key theories, main techniques and procedures. In addition to professional psychological knowledge, he/she possesses the methodological skills necessary for understanding or conducting psychological research. Understands diagnosis, its forms and methods, then intervention selection and planning, documentation, benefit evaluation and scientific inquiry. Understands the methods and forms of working with a person in need of social-psychological assistance, understands his/her professional competences and possibilities. He/she acquires the necessary preparation for studies at the 2nd level in the field of psychology,whichis necessaryfor the performance of the profession of a psychologist in any field of psychological practice.

Conditions of admission

Admission requirements for study programmes: PSYCHOLOGY

  • acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education
  • commitment to respect the Catholic spirit of the university and faculty;
  • successful completion of the entrance examination, which consists of:

a) of a written test aimed at identifying the knowledge prerequisites for study: human biology, basic psychology, general intelligence and creativity, and knowledge of the English language (comprehension of a professional text). The maximum number of points is 100. Successful completion of the written test is a prerequisite for the personal interview.

b) from a personal interview aimed at establishing a general (professional, social and cultural) outlook and identifying personal and motivational prerequisites for study. The maximum number of points is 30. The minimum number of points required to pass the oral interview is 15.

The results of the entrance examination are taken into account in the final ranking of applicants.



Additional information

Health disadvantaged applicants may request that the form and method of the entrance examination be determined taking into account their disadvantage (a written request is sent together with the application form).

General information on the admission exam

A candidate can submit:
NOW electronic application
- via e-prihlaska.ku.sk;
- such electronic application is not printed, signed, sent to the postal address of the faculty.

OR paper (not electronic) application
- such a paper (not electronic) application most often on the form ŠEVT is sent to the following address:

Attention! If the applicant submits the application via portalvs.sk, the application must also be sent in paper form to the address of the faculty. In this case, the fee for material support of the admission procedure is 35 €.

The application form must be accompanied by:
a) confirmation of payment of the fee;
b) in the case of applicants for the study programme TEACHER OF SLOVAK LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE in combination with a second teaching subject, who have obtained secondary education outside the Slovak Republic and have not at the same time completed university studies of at least the first (bachelor's) degree in the study programme Teacher of Slovak Language and Literature, also a certificate proving the level of proficiency in the Slovak language at the level of at least B2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and Literature;
c) in the case of applicants for the study programme JURNALISM, the applicant may also attach two examples of the author's work (these may be either the results of journalistic work (a newspaper article, a radio piece, a television piece, etc.), or the results of the journalistic work (a newspaper article, a radio piece, a television piece, etc.) published in school, local or other media (can also be online media), or any kind of text (e.g. essays, blogs) except poetry.

The study department must receive (preferably at the time of application, if possible):
a) a certified copy of the matriculation certificate;
b) in the case of applicants who received their secondary education abroad, a decision on the recognition of the foreign secondary school diploma for the purpose of studying in the Slovak Republic.
Information on the further process in the admission procedure will be sent to applicants by electronic or paper mail.

Deadline for verification of fulfillment of admission requirements: by April 15, 2025

Written decision on the result of the admission procedure will be sent to applicants no later than 30 days after the verification of the fulfilment of the conditions of admission to the study. The written decision shall be delivered to the applicants in their own hands.
