Structural and Transportation Engineering

The graduate of engineering studies in the study programme load-bearing structures and transport structures (SP NKDS) acquires the knowledge, skills and competences necessary to deepen and expand the basic and specialized theoretical preparation for designing, fabricating and operating load-bearing structures of civil engineering structures and ground structures made of concrete, steel, wood and other building materials, transport structures, as well as for solving geotechnical problems. Emphasis is placed on providing the graduate with the necessary knowledge for the theoretical analysis of civil engineering structures and earthworks to enable them to design safe, user-friendly, durable and aesthetic structures with the widest possible use of computer technology. An important part of the comprehensive training is the development of independence and creativity, so that after adequate practice the graduate will be able to manage a team of workers, be able to independently lead even large projects and be able to take responsibility for their complex technical solutions. Experimental and diagnostic work as well as methods and procedures for evaluating the data obtained are an integral part of the profile of the graduate of the study programme in load-bearing structures and transport structures.
