German language for professional purposes
The graduate of the field of study has general knowledge at the level of synthesis. He/she has a high level of practical knowledge of the language or languages studied. He/she possesses relationally-argumentatively acquired knowledge of language and its laws, of the way and conditions of its functioning in all linguistic levels and of its relations to other languages. He/she is familiar with the supporting data, concepts, principles and theoretical and methodological principles of the chosen linguistic and cultural-historical area and the corresponding sciences. Knows all linguistic levels of the linguistic system of the language concerned, linguistic styles, contrastive grammar, socio-pragmatic contexts and communicative contexts of the language concerned. The graduate is familiar with the most important cultural and social realities of the linguistic and cultural area. The student is equipped with systematically related theoretical and methodological knowledge in the field of translation theory, interpretation, and methods of translation and interpretation. It applies the studied or working languages at the application-communication level in oral communication and written communication. Has acquired the procedures, skills and strategies of translation and interpreting and is able to use them practically in the mediation of everyday communication. Knows how to work with data and how to use data produced by translators. Develops own linguistic culture in both the first and the relevant second language. Is characterised by creative and flexible thinking and is able to engage in work in professional sectors. Can critically analyse written and spoken expression, formulate their own opinions and attitudes, critically revise and constructively defend them. Can present their own views professionally, including in a foreign language. Has knowledge of the historical, cultural, professional, moral, social, legal and economic contexts and particularities of the language or languages or linguistic area being studied. Can keep in touch with current developments in the discipline under study and effectively pursue his/her own professional development.

a) A candidate may submit multiple applications for studies at the Faculty of Arts PU, indicating one study programme on one application form;
b) Applicants shall pay the fee by bank transfer or postal money order U, the proof of payment shall be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form;
c) Applications without proof of payment of fee will not be accepted;
d) Basic data required to make a cross-border transfer from abroad via SWIFT network: swift address of the bank: SPSRSKBA, account number of the payee or account number of the SP client in the format SK87 8180 0000 0070 0007 8205; name of the bank: State Treasury, ul. Radlinského 32, 010 05 Bratislava 15; unabbreviated name and address of the payee, the client of the SP. 17. novembra 1, 080 78 Prešov, purpose of payment: fee VS 10100041;
e) Candidates studying at the Faculty of Arts PU or graduates of bachelor studies at the Faculty of Arts PU do not fill in the statement of results of bachelor studies in individual semesters and do not submit a confirmation of the correctness of the data. A structured curriculum vitae shall be attached to the application form;
f) Applicants who have not completed their bachelor studies at the PU Faculty of Physical Education shall fill in the first and second pages of the application form thoroughly;
g) Applicants who have not completed their bachelor's studies at the PU Faculty of Physical Education shall submit a structured curriculum vitae and certified photocopies of documents certifying completion of studies (university diploma, state examination certificate, diploma supplement) with their application form. Officially uncertified photocopies will not be accepted;
h) Applicants who are completing their bachelor studies at a faculty other than the PU Faculty of Arts in 2025 shall attach to the application form a statement of the results of bachelor studies in individual semesters issued by the study department of the university (stamp and signature of the study department of the school/faculty);
i) Applicants for studies with specific needs: 1. Before applying for studies, they shall contact the faculty (or, in the case of university departments, the university) coordinator in order to be advised on the choice of the field of study and the scope of support services at PU; 2. provide the faculty (or, in the case of university departments, the university) coordinator with sufficient information about their limitations and needs, 3. contact the faculty coordinator well in advance (usually 1 month before the entrance examination) to ensure adequate conditions for the entrance examination. j) Candidates shall submit a medical certificate of medical fitness as part of the application form, which is available on the faculty's website;
k) The application for studies may also be submitted by an applicant who has not yet passed the Bachelor's State Examination for the type of study and cannot provide relevant data on the passing of the examination in the application form. Such an applicant shall submit proof of having passed this examination subsequently, at the latest by the deadline set by the faculty. If the applicant fails to submit this document, he/she may not be admitted to the study;
l) In the event that fewer candidates apply for a study programme than the minimum number set for that study programme, the dean may decide not to open the programme for a given academic year. The dean shall notify the applicants of this fact and invite them to change their study programme. If the applicant does not accept the offer, the faculty will refund the full admission fee;
m) The Faculty of Arts follows the internal regulation Principles of the Admission Procedure of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Prešov, which was issued by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Arts in Prešov on 16 September 2009.
