Structural and Transportation Engineering

The graduate of the Bachelor's degree in the study programme Engineering Structures and Transportation Structures will acquire the necessary knowledge to understand and demonstrate the theoretical and practical knowledge based on the current state of science in the field of design, preparation and implementation of engineering and transportation structures. The graduate will be prepared not only for the second cycle of higher education in his/her or a related field of study, but also for immediate entry into practice. In accordance with the acquired theoretical knowledge, practical abilities and skills, he/she will be prepared for designing, constructing and operating simple and small constructions of various types and purposes, and at the same time he/she will be able to manage the basic economic agenda.

Theoretical knowledge

Graduate of the study programme:

- Demonstrate knowledge and necessary theoretical foundations in the natural sciences and their understanding in the SP IKDS,

- can apply knowledge of computational methods, principles and procedures for the reliable and economical design of engineering structures and transport structures, as well as load-bearing structures of civil engineering structures,

- can apply knowledge of computational methods, principles and procedures for the reliable and economical design of civil engineering structures and transport structures, as well as load-bearing structures of civil engineering structures,

- has the ability to acquire, interpret, apply and appropriately develop basic theoretical knowledge in the design and construction of less demanding engineering structures and transport structures and less demanding load-bearing structures of civil engineering structures,

- has developed the learning skills necessary to pursue further study with a high degree of independence.

Practical skills and abilities

A graduate of the study programme:- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the essential facts, concepts, principles and principles relating to both civil engineering and civil engineering structures, and can apply them in practical activities in a way that demonstrates an understanding of the context and implications of alternative solutions and decisions,

- can apply their knowledge and understand the basic principles and procedures of construction of different types of civil engineering structures and civil engineering structures; can comprehensively manage the related organisational and technological tasks,

- can apply their knowledge and understand the basic principles and procedures of construction of different types of civil engineering structures and civil engineering structures

- has the ability to obtain and interpret relevant data/facts, make responsible decisions, communicate, manage and control technological construction procedures.

Additional knowledge, skills and abilities

Graduate of the study programme:

- can apply basic socio-economic knowledge,

- can present information, concepts, principles, problems and solutions to professional and lay audiences,

- can communicate in at least one world language,

- has developed the skills to learn and expand the knowledge and skills acquired through study,

- has the skills to organise his/her own learning and continuing professional development, and develops a habit of the need for continuing professional development,

- has the skills to organise his/her own learning and continuing professional development

- knows how to interpret and apply legislation in construction business practice in accordance with generally accepted moral and ethical principles,

- has soft skills and can apply himself/herself in the labour market.

Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the study programme Engineering Structures and Transport Construction will find employment in many professions of engineering and civil engineering. As a structural engineer and assistant designer, he/she can design simpler civil engineering structures and transport structures as well as load-bearing structures of civil engineering structures. In the capacity of foreman, assistant superintendent and construction manager, he may provide construction of various civil engineering and civil engineering structures. Graduates of the study programme will also find employment in state administration bodies, municipalities, environmental authorities and in organisations administering civil engineering structures and transport structures. He/she can also do business on the basis of a trade license in the field of construction execution and designing of simple constructions.
