Structural and Transportation Engineering
A graduate of a bachelor's degree in the engineering constructions and transport constructions study program (ŠP IKDS) will acquire the necessary knowledge to understand and prove theoretical and practical knowledge, based on the current state of science in the field of design, preparation and implementation of engineering and transport constructions. The graduate will be prepared not only for studying in the second level of higher education in his or a related field of study, but also for immediate entry into practice. In accordance with the acquired theoretical knowledge, practical abilities and skills, he will be prepared for the design, construction and operation of simple and small constructions of various types and purposes, and at the same time he will be able to lead a basic economic agenda. Theoretical knowledge Graduate of the study program: - demonstrates knowledge and the necessary theoretical foundations from natural science disciplines and their understanding in ŠP IKDS, - can use knowledge of calculation methods, principles and procedures of reliable and economical design of engineering structures and transport structures, as well as supporting structures of earthworks, - has the ability to acquire, interpret, use and adequately develop basic theoretical knowledge in the design and construction of less demanding engineering structures and transport structures and less demanding load-bearing structures of earthworks, - has developed learning skills that are necessary to continue further studies with a high degree of independence.
Practical abilities and skills Graduate of the study program: - demonstrates knowledge and understanding of essential facts, concepts, principles and principles related to engineering and earthworks, can use them in practical activities in a way that demonstrates understanding of the context and consequences of alternative solutions and decisions, - knows how to use his knowledge and understand the basic principles and construction procedures of various types of engineering structures and earthworks; can comprehensively handle related organizational and technological tasks, - has the ability to acquire and interpret relevant data/facts, make responsible decisions, communicate, manage and control technological construction procedures. Complementary knowledge, abilities and skills Graduate of the study program: - can use basic knowledge of a socio-economic nature, - able to present information, concepts, principles, problems and solutions to professional and lay audiences, - can communicate in at least one world language, - has developed skills to learn and expand the knowledge and skills acquired through study, - he has the skills to organize his own education and further professional development, he will form the habit of needing continuous further professional education, - can interpret and apply legislation in construction business practice in accordance with generally accepted moral and ethical principles, - has "soft skills" and can apply in the labor market.
Prospects of graduates
A graduate of the study program engineering constructions and traffic structures will find employment in many engineering and civil engineering professions. In the functions of designer and assistant designer, he can design simpler engineering structures and traffic structures as well as supporting structures of earthworks. In the capacity of foreman, assistant construction manager and construction manager, he can ensure the construction of various engineering and earthworks. Graduates of the study program will also find employment in state administration bodies, local governments, environmental offices and organizations managing engineering structures and traffic structures. He can also do business on the basis of a trade license in the field of building construction and designing simple buildings. The admissions process will take the form of a selection procedure, without personal participation of applicants and without entrance exams. Applicants for the bachelor's program at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, TUKE, will be evaluated based on the following criteria, expressed in points:
- Academic results from the last year of high school before the final exams,
- Type of secondary school,
- Results of the final exam in accordance with Act No. 245/2008 Coll. on Education and Training (School Act) and amendments, and Decree No. 224/2022 Coll. on Secondary Schools and its amendments,
- Results of successful completion of a general aptitude test for university study, i.e., a test evaluating basic abilities needed for successful university studies, such as: General Academic Prerequisites (GAP), SAT, ACT, SCIO General Study Prerequisites, Mathematics Test (MAT), ZNO (External Independent Assessment),
- Successful completion of the final exam in mathematics or physics,
- Number of documented (uploaded in the system) successful participations in regional, national, or higher levels of olympiads or other significant competitions.

Conditions for international students
- For applicants from abroad, the admission condition is the recognition of the educational document, which the applicant must submit no later than on the day of enrollment. More information about the recognition of documents can be found on the website: https://www.tuke.sk/en/admission-procedure
- If the applicant is a person granted asylum or provided with subsidiary protection, the condition of obtaining full secondary education or full secondary vocational education can be demonstrated by a sworn statement and a general study prerequisites test when submitting the application. Upon enrollment, it is necessary to submit or send by email a request for recognition of the educational document and subsequently the decision on the recognition of the educational document.
- If the applicant is a person granted temporary refuge, the condition of obtaining full secondary education or full secondary vocational education can be demonstrated by a sworn statement and a general study prerequisites test when submitting the application. Upon enrollment, it is necessary to submit apostilled documents and a request for recognition of the educational document and the decision on the recognition of the educational document.
