Transport technology and logistics
Characteristics
A graduate of the Transport Technology and Logistics study program has knowledge of the construction of transport and handling equipment. He understands the theories of strength, reliability and durability using modern CAD systems. He understands the principles of using the boundary conditions of solved transport and material handling tasks. Can effectively evaluate, analyze and manage logistics systems. He can apply the proposed solutions with regard to the requirements of their functionality. He has knowledge of experimental measurement methods.
Aims of education
A graduate of the Transport Technology and Logistics study program can apply knowledge in the field of theory, design and construction of transport and handling equipment (e.g. cranes, conveyors, lifts, handling equipment). He understands the issues of designing logistic (transportation and handling) systems, such as management and regulation of material flows, warehouse management, system solutions for material handling, etc. Understands the principles of using and defining marginal (working) conditions suitable for solving transport and material handling tasks. He is able to use the acquired knowledge and is able to evaluate, analyze and manage highly efficient integrated logistics systems with transport machinery and equipment in wider contexts, going beyond their field of study. Understands the theories of strength, reliability and durability of structures using current computerized design systems. As part of his studies, he is familiar with experimental methods of testing machines. He is able to integrate acquired knowledge, evaluate and apply appropriate decisions even with incomplete information. He can independently design and construct transport machines and equipment with regard to the requirements of their functionality, dimensioning efficiency, reliability and service life. He masters the methods of constructing and testing transport machines and handling equipment and the principles of projecting material flows using modern logistics principles. He knows how to clearly communicate conclusions, findings and justifications to both laymen and experts. He has knowledge of introducing reliability theory into practical applications. In the field of education, he has developed habits that allow him to continue further self-study.
