The graduate of doctoral studies in the study programme Security Law Protection of Persons and Property will be applied as:
- manager in the highest management functions within the Police Force,
Ministry of the Interior, other state and non-state security services and organizations,
which implement highly specialized security activities in the field of protection of persons and property, - scientific researcher in the field of security sciences and security legal protection of persons and property,
- an analytical and conceptual worker placed at a higher management level
in the organisational structure of the Police Force or other state and non-state security
services and organisations, - higher education teacher in the field of study of security sciences or in related fields.

Basic admission requirements
The basic condition for admission to doctoral studies is the acquisition of a complete second cycle university degree.
Other admission requirements
Applicants who:
- are graduates of a study programme of the second cycle of higher education studies or a study programme of the first and second cycle of higher education studies combined into one unit,
- have a recommendation for studies from a superior with staff competence (applies to applicants who are in the service of a member of the PZ or other security services, with the exception of members of the Prison and Judicial Guard Corps),
- meet the condition of having been in permanent civil service for at least 1 year (applies to applicants for doctoral studies who are in the civil service of a member of the PZ),
- have successfully passed the entrance examination,
- paid a fee of 39 € to cover the costs associated with the admission procedure, 49 € in the case of applicants who did not submit the application also in electronic form.
Additional information
Applications for doctoral studies are submitted by applicants - members of the Police and other security services - to the relevant personnel departments on forms intended for university studies in the Slovak Republic with the specified attachments, and the application is also submitted electronically.
The applicant is obliged to immediately notify all changes and new facts that have arisen
since the submission of the application for studies until the admission procedure and subsequently until the enrolment in the
study.
Conditions for international students
For foreign applicants from the European Union Member States, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic.
A candidate for doctoral studies submits an application for studies with specified attachments to the Department of Science and Scientific Projects of the Academy of the Police Corps in Bratislava and also an electronic application.
The applicant for doctoral studies shall submit the following together with the application:
- structured curriculum vitae,
- certified copy of the documents on acquired II. degree of higher education,
in the study programme "Security and Legal Protection of Persons and Property" or
in the study programme "Security and Legal Services in Public Administration" or
in a study programme accredited in a related field of study, or in
another study programme, if the candidate in the study programme
"Security Law Protection of Persons and Property" or in the study programme
"Security Law Services in Public Administration" or in a study programme
accredited in a related field of study, demonstrates adequate professional
experience, - recommendation from a superior with staff competence (does not apply to
applicants who are in the service of a member of the ZVJS or to civilian
applicants), - a list of their published works,
- expert reports on these works (if any),
- proof of payment of the admission fee,
- framework project for the dissertation in four copies.
The admission procedure for doctoral studies is carried out following the announced topics of dissertations and the capacity of APZ and supervisors. The admission procedure starts on the day when the application form is received.
As part of the admission procedure, the PhD candidate will undergo an entrance examination (the date and venue of the entrance examination will be updated).
Form of entrance exam
The entrance examination will be conducted in the form of an oral interview in front of the Admissions Committee. The content of the interview will be mainly a debate on the framework project of the dissertation (the applicant will create a project based on the selected topic).
The framework project for the dissertation includes in particular its expected structure, the topicality of the topic, the definition of the problem, the expected goal of the dissertation, the applicability of the results, the expected literature. The scope of the framework project is up to 5 pages (A4).
In determining the ranking, the committee takes into account the extent of the applicants' demonstrated knowledge of the content of the core knowledge of the field of study, the extent and quality of the applicant's publishing or creative activity, as well as the ability to explain the content, methods of addressing the dissertation topic and the application of the expected results of the solution of the problem
