Mining and geotechnics
A graduate is a professionally educated mining technician (technologist) who is prepared for the practical implementation of technical and organizational activities in mining and quarrying operations, in the construction operations of underground structures and tunnels. On the theoretical side, he masters the basic technical principles of natural and mathematical-physical phenomena, knows the methods of the production process of mining deposits or mining and geotechnical processes of obtaining raw materials. At the same time, he masters the basic principles of the technological processes of extraction and processing of raw materials, especially the processes of drilling and loosening of rocks, the processes of anchoring and bolting of rocks, the processes of extraction, loading and transport of rubble, but also the methods and principles of processing and treatment of raw materials.
Prospects of graduates
The Mining and Geotechnics study program will provide graduates with a broader professional profile, with comprehensive, high-quality knowledge of the principles of technological and geotechnical processes of mining and processing of raw materials, especially processes of drilling and loosening of rocks, processes of anchoring and bolting of rocks, processes of extraction, loading and transport of rubble, but also methods and principles of processing and treatment of raw materials, with the possibility of application as a mining technician (technologist), who is prepared for the practical implementation of technical and organizational activities in mining and quarrying operations, in the operations of building underground structures and tunnels. Graduates can independently prepare draft plans for opening, preparation and extraction for a production-organizational unit, they can also solve geological-geotectonic problems related to mining, creation of open underground spaces, works and objects underground, as well as during underground disposal. They methodically guide the design of simpler technological processes and can control the quality of their production. The cross-sectional nature of mining and geotechnics does not exclude the employment of graduates in other branches of industry.
