Prospects of graduates

Graduates of the faculty have prospects mainly as a science-research, pedagogical and managing employees, translators and interpreters, journalists, analytical, creative and service employees in various areas of economy, politics, public administration, education, healthcare, culture, science, in mass media facilities, social services etc.

Conditions of admission

To opened study programmes of the Faculty of Arts CU a predetermined number of applicants are accepted either without taking an entrance exam in case of the study programmes ethics, History of book culture, philosophy classical languages, information studies, Literature communication and libraries, museology and cultural heritage, pedagogy, Slovak language and Literature, Slovak language and culture and teaching of academic subjects) and in case of study programmes the number of registered applicants is lower or equal to the determined number of applicants accepted for the study, on the basis of entrance exam execution (in case of other study programmes). To opened study programmes, for which is the entrance exam not performed, either a pre-set number of applicants will be admitted according to the order arranged on the basis of secondary school study results, or all applicants signed up for these study programmes will be admitted. To opened study programmes, for which the entrance exam is performed, a pre-set number of applicants will be admitted according to the results of the entrance exam.

The faculty requires a confirmation of a health ability for university study from applicants of study and for exercise of the profession in the selected study programmes.



Conditions for international students

The conditions of admission of international students are the same as the conditions of admissions of citizens of the Slovak Republic except for foreigners - self-payers where the entrance exam may also be in the form of entrance colloquium.

Tuition for foreigners - self-payers is EUR 2,500 for an academic year.

General information on the admission exam

An admission procedure begins with submitting an application for university study. The applicant submits an application for the master level of university study on the official application form (form in the A 3 format - as a double page).

The applicant may submit only one application for study at the Faculty of Arts of CU.Within the defined groups study programmes (listed below), the applicant may apply for two study programmes.The applicant indicates them in one application form, with binding specification of the order of his/her preference. For other study programmes opened at the Faculty of Arts of CU (outside the defined groups) the applicant may submit an application for only one study programme.

The groups of study programs within which the applicant may apply for two study programmes:

1st      group (without entrance exam): History of book culture, ethics, philosophy, classical languages, information studies, literary communication and libraries, museology and cultural heritage, pedagogy, Slovak language and Literature, Slovak language and culture, teaching of academic subjects (in concrete combinations)

2nd      group (unified entrance exam):  archeology, archival science, History

3rd      group (unified entrance exam): ethnology, culturology, politology, sociology

The fee for admission shall be paid by the participants by money order of type U to the address of the faculty of in the form of bank transfer. The payment confirmation is the copy of the slip on payment of the fee, or confirmation of the bank on transfer execution (we do not accept mail confirmation from internet banking). The confirmation must be pasted on page 3 of the application. Without payment confirmation of the fee for admission proceeding the application of the applicant will not be registered.                                                    An aliquot part of the fee may be returned to those applicants that cancel the application in the term by 28 February, 2009 (EUR 33.19 / SKK 1000). Changes in the study programmes in the registered university study application are after 15 March, 2009 inadmissible.          

The faculty does not provide the university application form. The form is available on the website of the Ministry of Education SR and the Faculty of Arts CU.                                          

The entrance exams to the Faculty of Arts CU may be attended by and accepted may be only applicants that have full secondary education or full secondary vocational education completed with a school leaving exam. The required document on acquiring secondary education is a copy of the school leaving certificate verified by a notary. Copies of school leaving certificates not verified by a notary public, as well as not validated school leaving certificates from foreign secondary schools will not be accepted.

For study programmes without entrance exams the applicant sends a verified by a notary of all year-end school reports of the secondary school. In this case, the certified printout of all grades from the secondary school on the application form is not necessary.

Alternative date of the entrance exam may the dean of the faculty grant to the applicant, who asks for it in writing, but only in the case of participation of the applicant on another entrance exam on other faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava (photocopy of the invitation to the entrance exam on other faculty of CU in Bratislava shall be attached to the request).

The dean of the faculty has the right to admit other applicants instead of admitted applicants who declare that they are not joining the study, or who don't confirm their interest in study at the stated time, according to the order arranged on the basis of the results of entrance exam in individual study programmes.
