Dental technology
The field of study DENTAL TECHNOLOGY is studied in the first level of university studies (B.Sc.) with a standard length of 3 years (6 semesters) for the full-time form and 4 years (8 semesters) for the external form under the condition of fulfilling the 3-year professional experience necessary for obtaining professional competence or on the basis of the submission of a certificate of employment in the field of dental technology.
The graduate in Dental Technology (Level 1) is proficient in professional activities in the field of dental technology and management. This is professionally highly responsible work with the requisite independence in decision making and adaptability to changing conditions. Proficient in a broad system of dental prosthodontics methods and techniques with application in the process of curative and preventive care in dentistry and other medical disciplines. In addition to in-depth theoretical training, the graduate acquires the practical skills of a wide range of methods, procedures and abilities of complex professional thinking and acting. He/she is able to work in a medical team or independently on the fabrication of dental restorations, apart from interventions directly in the oral and maxillofacial area, which remain the responsibility of the dentist. Works on modern activities comparable to the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Union (EU).
He is able to carry out professional practice by:
- is generally and specifically educated and able to work, working independently on the basis of the latest scientific knowledge, working procedures and methods, techniques, taking into account the effectiveness of solutions,
- through his/her activities assumes professional responsibility and patient safety in the field of dental technology, takes into account the ethics of the field, obtains information, is able to sort and use it,
- recognizes the need for continuous professional growth and the use of the latest scientific and technical knowledge, is able to accept and apply them,
- is able to actively participate in multidisciplinary scientific and technical activities in the field of dental technology,
- uses methods of education focusing on prevention, maintenance and strengthening of health,
- participates in the solution of research problems in dental prosthetics
- plans, implements and ensures the complex process of making dental prostheses.
Prospects of graduates
Absolvent is employed as a dental technician in state and non-state dental technicians, in manufacturing companies dealing with prosthetics, in research dealing with special technologies for medical prosthetics, in commercial companies selling dental-technical materials and devices, as a professional consultant and instructor, in the education and training of dental technicians.
The profile of a graduate of the Bachelor's degree in dental technology (1st degree) consists in readiness and application in the field of complex manufacturing of individual medical devices and dental prostheses.

1. Secondary education completed by the matriculation examination.

- certified copy of the matriculation certificate
Applicants who are graduating in the current school year shall submit a certified copy of the matriculation certificate and a copy (uncertified) of the end-of-year certificate from the 4th year additionally (§ 58 (1) of Act No. 455/2012 Coll., Art. amending Act no. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education as amended) before the enrolment deadline in order to send the decision on admission to the study in time.
Without submitting a certified copy of the school-leaving certificate, the applicant will not be enrolled in the study (§ 59 (3) of Act No. 455/2012 Coll., as amended, which stipulates that a copy of the school-leaving certificate must be submitted to the university. No. 455/2005 of the Act on the Education of students, which amends Act No. 455/2005 of the Act on the Education of students. 131/2002 Coll. on higher education as amended). - copies (uncertified) of the end-of-year report cards for the entire secondary school studies (not compulsory, only in the case of the condition of selection of applicants according to the study average during studies) + writing out the grades with the calculated average in the application form (not compulsory, only in the case of the condition of selection of applicants according to the study average during studies)
- student applicants who have studied at a foreign secondary school - Decision on recognition of equivalence of the document of education (photocopy of the decision must be officially certified) at the same time also provide an uncertified copy of the foreign document of education,
- Curriculum Vitae (signed)
- certification of medical fitness to practise - from a doctor (for medical fields only),
- in the application form on page 3, the applicant for the external form of study shall provide details of employment,
- proof of payment by deposit into an account
General information about the admission procedure:
- An applicant may apply for more than one programme of study (each application is subject to an admission fee), and only one programme of study may be indicated on any one application form.
- The College reserves the right not to open the first year of study of a study programme for which a sufficient number of applicants have not applied.
- An applicant who has paid the admissions fee and has not been admitted by decision will not be refunded the fee.
- An applicant who is not admitted on the basis of an incomplete application will also not be refunded the fee.
- The registered application form with documents remains in the records and archives of the HEI - it is not returned.
Specific conditions of admission:
Full-time Form
Admission conditions are the same as the general conditions of the HEI + specific conditions:
- completion of: general upper secondary education with upper secondary school-leaving certificate (gymnasium) or general upper secondary vocational education with upper secondary school-leaving certificate
- medical fitness to practise according to Decree No 364/2009 of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (doctor's certificate to be included in the application form)
- admission interviews for the full-time form will be held at the end of June and will consist of: drawing, modelling and wire bending according to the template.
The preparatory seminar will be conducted in the month of May.
Part-time Form
The admission conditions are the same as the general conditions of the HEI + specific conditions:
- completed: full secondary vocational education with a secondary school leaving certificate in the field of study of dental laboratory technician/technician
- medical fitness to practise according to Decree No 364/2009 of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic (doctor's certificate to be included in the application form)
- student shall provide a confirmation of practice no later than on the day of enrolment
- When the number of applicants exceeds 50, the university reserves the right to limit the number of admitted students by oral admission interviews. All applicants will be given an outline of the topics to be covered in the admission interviews
