A graduate of engineering studies in Horticulture presents a university-educated professional with a comprehensive view of the knowledge profile of horticultural production, from the quality of production of raw material resources to the most modern ways of their application. He is knowledgeable of new technologies both domestically and globally, independently handles the problems of science, research areas in relation to the requirements of the institution. Can manage the production and sales process, enter into joint projects at EU level. Develops operational programs and their implementation direction to the desired areas. Manages the production and marketing process by means of programme operations.
Prospects of graduates
Graduates of the engineering study programme are applied as specialists in all forms of horticultural production and downstream processing units, in marketing, in trade, in research and breeding, in the test laboratories of the Central Control Testing Institute of Agriculture, and as managers of horticultural centres, designers of orchards, vineyards and nurseries. They carry out maintenance of orchard and park planting in public spaces, carry out consultancy for horticultural production, act as consultants for the establishment and operation of nurseries for ornamental and fruit trees. They find employment in education, public administration, banking, etc.

BASIC CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY
1. The admission procedure to the engineering degree of study at the FZKI SPU in Nitra is carried out in accordance with §55, §56, §57 and §58 of Act No. 131/2002 Coll. on Higher Education and in accordance with the Study Regulations of the SPU in Nitra and the Statute of the FZKI SPU in Nitra.
2. The basic condition for admission of a student to engineering studies is the completion of a first degree study programme in the same or a related field of study and its successful completion by a state examination.
An applicant who fails to prove fulfilment of the basic condition for admission to the study at the time of verification of fulfilment of the conditions for admission may be admitted to the study conditionally, provided that he/she is obliged to prove fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission to the study no later than on the date set for enrolment in the study.
FURTHER CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY
The ranking of applicants will be based on the results obtained in the previous studies at the first cycle, including the state examination, with the evaluation criteria being the weighted average of the courses taken throughout the previous studies and according to the other conditions of the specific study programme. For the study programmes Landscape and Garden Architecture, Landscape Engineering and Horticulture, the minimum number of points for admission is 5 points, for the study programme International Master of Horticultural Science, the minimum number of points for admission is 10 points, as follows: the student shall obtain 5 points for a full-study weighted average of the completed subjects for the entire previous study of the first cycle of study of less than a maximum of 2.5, and the student shall obtain 5 points for the result of the state examination of less than a maximum of 2.5.
If the applicant has completed a first degree programme in a related field of study at another faculty (or university), he/she is obliged to submit the results of his/her bachelor's studies as described above (weighted average of the completed subjects for the entire previous first degree study and the result of the state examination). Upon admission to the engineering study programme, the student's study plan will be refined in order to complete the courses (within the study plan) to the extent specified by the Dean;

Applicants for the study programme full-time, combined method shall submit, as part of the application form, their current professional activity in the field or a similar field in which they are interested.

FURTHER ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE STUDY PROGRAMMEHARDWARE
The selection of candidates for the study programme Horticulture will be made by admission interview (the candidate will appear in person for the interview on the appointed date). The interview will not be a knowledge-based interview, it is intended to demonstrate the applicant's aptitude to study the chosen study programme. The ranking of candidates will also be based on the result of the interview.
GENERAL ADMISSIONS DETAILS
- A candidate may apply on one application form for more than one programme of study undertaken at the Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering (within one admission fee),
- part of the application form of an applicant who has completed bachelor studies outside SPU in Nitra is a scan of the document of graduation with a supplement to the diploma, which applicants enter electronically via the University Information System (UIS)
- certified copy of the document of graduation (notary, registry office)with the diploma supplement, applicants must bring to the registration, otherwise they will not be enrolled in the study.
- incomplete applications (e.g. without proof of fee payment) will not be accepted.

Foreign applicants, or applicants who have completed their first degree abroad, are obliged to attach, in addition to the mandatory attachments, a Decision on Recognition of Education Document to the application form, or Application Form (http://www.uniag.sk/en/admission-requirements/). The Decision on Recognition of Education Document (recognition of a degree without comparison of the field of study) is issued by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic if the recognition of the degree is requested by an applicant whose education document was issued in a state with which an international bilateral agreement has been signed, but also by an applicant from any other state for the purpose of proving fulfilment of the basic condition for admission to studies. Decision on the recognition of a diploma of education (recognition of a diploma of education in a field of study) is issued by a higher education institution in the Slovak Republic which pursues a study programme in the same or a related field of study as that indicated on the diploma of duly completed higher education. Foreign applicants (the exceptions are applicants from the Czech Republic and applicants who have graduated from the Slovak language) who apply to study a study programme offered at the SPU in Nitra in the Slovak language and in a combination of Slovak and English must compulsorily pass an online test and an online oral interview aimed at determining the level of their linguistic competence in the Slovak language. The testing is provided by the SPU Nitra Language Centre (https://cj.uniag.sk/sk/domov/ ) on two dates, which applicants will be informed about in advance.
After passing the language test, the applicant will be issued with a certificate of the summary result of the online test and the online interview, which will correspond to the language level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The test and the certificate are subject to a fee of € 30,-.
If the applicant's level of language proficiency is below A1, the applicant will not be admitted to the course.
If the applicant's language proficiency level is A1, the applicant has fulfilled one of the admission requirements, but will be required to attend a 30-hour paid Slovak language course organised by the Centre of Languages of the SPU in Nitra (course fee: 120,- €). The course will run from 25 August 2025 to 5 September 2025. Upon completion of the course, a certificate of completion will be issued to the applicant.
If the applicant's level of language proficiency is A2 or above, the applicant has fulfilled one of the admission requirements and will be admitted to the course once the other requirements have also been fulfilled.
