VEHICLES AND ENGINES
The graduates in the bachelor´s study programme Vehicles and Enginesin are able to analyse problems and opportunities that occur in different practical areas related to the field of transport means and their important subsystems. The graduates gain basic knowledge in the subjects of general technical education, they have a general overview of mechanical engineering production and its management, professional knowledge in the field of transport means, combustion engines, hydraulic and pneumatic machines and equipment, knowledge of quality assessment and testing of transport means and knowledges regarding methods of compliance with legislative requirements imposed on the production and operation of transport means and their subsystems.
The graduates are able to design and to provide construction solutions of the transport means parts and their subsystems also using modern computer-assisted technologies. They are able to find work in the operation of transport means, mainly of road vehicles, rail vehicles, combustion engines, hydraulic and pneumatic machines and equipment, by their diagnostics, maintenance and repairs.The graduates meet conditions for further education in the master´s degree studies, especially in the study programmes Vehicles and Engines and Vehicle Maintenance.
Prospects of graduates
The graduate is able to solve parts of vehicles and their subsystems in a team and independently, also using modern computer-aided technologies, is able to coordinate subtasks and take responsibility for the achieved results. He/she is able to apply himself/herself in the operation of means of transport, in particular road vehicles, rolling stock and internal combustion engines, in their diagnosis, maintenance and repair. He/she is characterised by creativity and independence in solving problems typical of the automotive and rail vehicle industries. The graduate meets the conditions for further education in the next level of study - engineering, especially in the study programme "Vehicles and Engines".

The basic condition for admission to the Bachelor's degree (first degree study programme) is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education (Act on Higher Education No.131/2002 Coll., as amended). In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed secondary education abroad, this is an education comparable to that completed by the matriculation examination in the Slovak Republic. An applicant who has obtained secondary education abroad shall submit a decision on the recognition of the document on the completion of secondary education by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic with the application form for university studies, or at the latest at the time of enrolment in the studies.
Other admission conditions
Other conditions of admission of applicants to the study programmes of the Bachelor's Degree of the Faculty of Science of UNIZA are set according to § 57 of the Act. The admission procedure shall be conducted in the form of a selection procedure in order to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and prerequisites enter the study.

Conditions for international students
For foreign applicants, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students studying in a language other than the national language pay tuition fees according to the conditions set out in Section 92(8) of the Higher Education Act. Tuition fees are set by a UNIZA directive and published for the relevant academic year on the University's website. Foreign students studying in the Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the form valid in the Czech Republic to apply for studies. Applicants who do not have an active knowledge of Slovak or Czech are required to successfully complete language training (with the possibility of completing it at UNIZA).
For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral agreements or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.
Conditions of admission without the entrance exam
Without an entrance exam the following are admitted:
a) applicants from gymnasium and secondary industrial school of mechanical engineering, civil engineering or electrical engineering who have achieved an overall average of grades in all subjects in the last three years of study at the secondary school up to 2.8, including 2.8,
b) applicants from secondary vocational schools, combined schools and academies who have achieved an overall average of grades in all subjects in the last three pre-secondary school years up to and including 2.6 on their end-of-year report cards,
c) applicants who have graduated in mathematics with a grade no worse than 3,
d) applicants who have taken the NPS (SCIO) general academic aptitude or mathematics tests in the current school year and have achieved a percentile score of at least 60,
d) applicants who have taken the NPS (SCIO) general academic aptitude or mathematics tests in the current school year and have achieved a percentile score of at least 60,e) applicants who have been successful in a mathematics, physics, or computer science Olympiad in a regional or national round during their secondary school studies,
e) applicants who have been successful in a regional or national round during their secondary school studies
f) applicants who have been successful in a regional, national or international round of a major knowledge-based professional competition.
To be admitted without an entrance examination, it is sufficient to fulfil one of the conditions listed above in points (a) to (f).

All applicants who do not meet the admission requirement without an entrance exam must take an entrance exam. The entrance examination is conducted in the form of a test of the secondary school curriculum, focusing on basic knowledge in science, technology and social sciences.
