Information on additional admission interviews for the specialty of GLASS:
An application for additional admission interviews for the study programme may be submitted by an applicant who has not passed the admission interviews for the study programme Applied Arts in the regular term.
The applicant shall fill in and electronically submit the electronic application form, which is placed on the website of the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Applied Sciences no later than 23 May 2023. He/she then prints out the application form, signs it and sends it by post together with the following attachments no later than 24 May 2023
- professional CV
- an officially certified copy of the matriculation certificate (Foreign applicants and applicants who have studied abroad shall provide a Nostrification of Document issued by the District Office - Department of Education)
- if the applicant is in his/her final year, in the printed application form he/she will have his/her school confirm the details of his/her studies (transcript of subjects and grades), in case of a bad pandemic situation (closed schools) he/she will attach a copy of the last report card (e.g. from the 3rd year)
- proof of payment of the fee
- an affidavit of medical fitness signed by the applicant in his/her own hand:

Information on the regular date of the admission interview:
A candidate for Bachelor's studies at VŠVU can apply for a maximum of two of the study programmes, in case the given study programmes do not have the 2nd round of admission interviews on the same date (turn).
The applicant shall fill in and electronically submit the electronic application form, which is placed on the website of the VŠVU no later than 30 November 2022. He/she then prints out the application form, signs it and sends it by post together with the following attachments no later than 1 December 2022 .

Utilitarian Art(specialisation - ceramics, glass, jewellery)
To apply for any of the specializations, no training in the field is required, nor is any special experience required prior to studying. The study specializations are open to the aspirations of the applicants.
Homework Requirements - Portfolio
Drawing
- classical, academic assignments, still life, portrait, details of the human body, drawings of nature, landscapes etc....
- portrait drawing, based on live model - 5 pieces
- still life - 3 pieces
- landscape, nature... - 3 pieces
- drawings of hands, body parts... - 3 pieces
- colour studies based on a live cartoon model, technique of the candidate's choice - 2 pieces
- colour studies based on a still life cartoon, technique of the candidate's choice - 2 pieces
Modelling:
If the candidate has had the opportunity for this creative training, provide, photo documentation of this activity:
modeled portrait after a live model, or bust, etc.
Homework and schoolwork:
Portfolio includes home and school work, according to the personal choice of the applicant: drawings, paintings, photographs and models, various school and homework assignments, personal projects, object designs, small, large in the field for which the applicant is applying.
Suggestions related to the specialty - ceramics or glass or jewelry.

Mandatory role
The candidate will work individually on a topic related to the specialisation he/she is applying for.
Theme:
The ART of Dreams
The work should be an expression, a materialization of personal ideas and associations evoked by the concept of MILK OF DREAMS.
KERAMICS
- Develop a proposal for the medium of ceramics.
SKLO
- Develop a proposal for the medium glass.
METAL AND SPARK
- Interpret the theme by creating a piece of jewelry; work can be with any material.

After submitting the online application form and attachments, the candidate will subsequently upload the application form along with the CV and cover letter through the following website: https://ulozisko.vsvu.sk/;
between 12.00 noon on December 6, 2022 and 8.00 a.m. on December 9, 2022.
access details and instructions will be sent to the email addresses provided in the application form no later than 12.00 noon on 6 December 2022.
Portfolio, CV and cover letter must be in one common PDF format up to a maximum of 10 MB marked: first name, last name, name of the study programme Applied Arts. It is essential to label individual works.
Original homework portfolio will be brought by the advancing candidate directly to the 2nd round of admissions interviews, including the compulsory assignment prepared according to the instructions.
Specification of tasks during the admission interviews:
Round 1 - Distance learning without the participation of the candidate.
- Assessment of all portfolio components listed in the homework requirements (portfolio). Each member of the admissions committee scores on a six-point scale (0-5 points).
- Assessment of Required Assignments. Each member of the admissions committee grades on a six-point scale (0-5 points).
Round 2- In the presence of the advancing candidate from Round 1.
Second round of admission interviews shall last for two days.
Art Assignment Specification - Ceramics
- relief - object - creation on a given theme

Art Assignment Specification - Glass
- Previous experience working with glass is not a requirement for admission to the Glass specialisation.
- Candidates will be given four topics (assignments) ranging from utilitarian to free-form work that will test the applicant's artistic thinking and skills.

- creation on given themes - linked to the variables of the name of the studio ATELIER S+M+L_XL - METAL AND SPARK, which form the essence of the study in a given specialization.

Ceramics
A2 drawing board, pencils, charcoals, reds, brushes, paints - tempera and watercolour, watercolour, poster paints, modelling spatula, scissors, string, water containers, ruler, compass, glue, tape, rulers, eyelet, brick, pencil sharpener, pencil sharpener
Glass
A2 drawing board (if the candidate is travelling and is unable to bring his/her own A2 board the VSU will provide one), pencil, charcoal, eraser, water colours, scissors, trimmer, colour drawings, glue, tape, rulers, modelling spatula, etc.
Spark
A2 drawing board (if the candidate is travelling and is unable to bring his/her own A2 board the VŠVU will provide one), coloured pencils, scissors, trimmer, small pliers, combi-pliers, quick-drying all-purpose glue, tape, rulers.

Conditions for international students
All foreign applicants must be proficient in the Slovak language at B1 level (except Czech applicants) by the time they start their studies.

A candidate for a Bachelor's degree at VŠVU can become a student of the chosen study programme only on the basis of passing the admission process. If a student has obtained a complete secondary education or a complete vocational secondary education, he/she can apply for admission to the VŠVU in the prescribed manner. As part of the admission process to the VŠVU, an entrance examination is held to test the applicant's level of knowledge, talent, thinking, abilities and skills in terms of the specific requirements arising from the chosen bachelor's degree programme.
In the event that the admission interviews to the VŠVU are held before the date of the candidate's matriculation examination, the candidate is admitted to the studies on a conditional basis. Definitive admission to the study is conditional upon successful completion of the matriculation examination. The applicant must submit proof of the completion of upper secondary education (school leaving certificate) within ten days of passing the school leaving examination, but no later than the deadline for enrolment. All foreign applicants must be proficient in the Slovak language at B1 level (except Czech applicants) by the time of enrolment.
Form of entrance exam
The entrance examination at the Academy of Performing Arts in all study programmes is a two-round examination. The first round will be conducted by distance learning (without the participation of applicants). The second round takes place in all study programmes in person and lasts for two days.

- June 14, 2023 - Applicants who advance to Round 2 will receive notification of advancement to Round 2 and an invitation letter with instructions for Round 2
- Round 2 - conducted by attendance over two days: 26-27 June 2023 - candidates work on tasks over 2 days (full 2 days)

- Round 2 - is conducted in a face-to-face manner and lasts for two days: 2 - 3 February 2023 - candidates work on assignments for 2 days (full 2 days), which will be announced during the entrance exams
