Graduate/Unit Profile

The study program focuses on the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competencies that predispose the graduate to perform direct social work with clients, e.g., families, children, youth, elderly, ill, medically disadvantaged, addicted, homeless, etc. The graduate of the Bachelor's degree is able to design forms of social assistance and social systems to meet the requirements for maintaining and improving the quality of life of clients, to create civically beneficial and supportive activities and to implement them in practice. The graduate has knowledge about forms and methods of social work, about the social policy of the state and its development trends, about the theory of social work and its application to social problems.



Prospects of graduates

Social work graduates have the opportunity to apply in the labour market as social workers with competence to work in the social field within the state administration, local government as well as in the third sector. The implementation and assertion of social work graduates covers five
key departments - the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family,
the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health.

Conditions of admission

FSVaZ accepts electronically submitted applications without the need to send paper versions. It is recommended to upload scans of all required attachments to the online application form. Officially certified copies of the transcripts and the school leaving certificate must be submitted by the deadline set by FSVaZ.

BASIC CONDITION FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY (according to Article 56(1) of Act No. 131/2002 on Higher Education)

  • the study programme may be chosen by graduates of secondary schools from the Slovak Republic and from abroad who have completed their secondary school studies with a matriculation examination (or equivalent examination) and submit a valid document to that effect by the deadline set by the FSVaZ;

applicants who do not fulfil the basic condition for admission by the set deadline, but who fulfil other basic conditions for admission to the study set by FSVaZ and at the same time obtain the necessary number of points for admission according to the set criteria, may be admitted to the study with the proviso that they are obliged to prove fulfilment of the basic condition no later than on the date set for enrolment in the study (pursuant to Section 58(1) of Act No 131/2002 on Higher Education Institutions of Higher Education).

After the assessment of the fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission to the study, the applicants with the highest number of points achieved according to the criteria for the selection of applicants established by the FSVaZ

will be admitted to the study.
