Graduate/Unit Profile
The baccalaureate graduate is competent to fulfill the requirements of a discipline that integrates nursing theories with scientific knowledge from other disciplines necessary for the delivery of health services to the public in primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention, as well as care in illness, rehabilitation, and follow-up care. Graduates are able to provide nursing care to individuals, families, groups or communities in health or illness and contribute to health, recovery or dying and death in peace and dignity. Professional training is based on the results of science and research. It is able to keep abreast of new knowledge in the rapidly evolving disciplines of nursing. Has good practical experience in field and laboratory practice that can be appropriately applied in practice.
Prospects of graduates
The graduates of the study will apply as baccalaureate nurses with appropriate autonomy in the scope of complexity of nursing situation management in clinical and preventive fields of health care in outpatient, secondary and tertiary areas, including educational activities in the state and non-state sphere.

FSVaZ accepts electronically submitted applications without the need to send paper versions. It is recommended to upload scans of all necessary attachments (e.g. scans of secondary school certificates for 2nd and 3rd year, medical report on medical fitness, etc.) to the electronic application. Officially certified copies of school certificates, matriculation certificate, MEDICAL REPORT ON THE MEDICAL CAPACITY OF THE CANDIDATE FOR THE STUDY must be submitted no later than the deadline set by the FSVaZ.
BASIC CONDITION FOR ADMISSION TO THE STUDY (according to Article 56(1) of Act No. 131/2002 on Higher Education)
- the study programme may be chosen by graduates of secondary schools from the Slovak Republic and from abroad who have completed their secondary school studies with a matriculation examination (or equivalent examination) and submit a valid document to that effect by the deadline set by the FSVaZ;
- applicants who do not fulfil the basic condition for admission by the set deadline, but fulfil the other basic conditions for admission to the study set by the FSVaZ and at the same time obtain the necessary number of points for admission according to the set criteria, may be admitted to the study with the proviso that they are obliged to prove fulfilment of the basic condition no later than on the date set for enrolment in the study (pursuant to Section 58(1) of Act No 131/2002 on Higher Education).
Applicants for study in the study programme Nursing are also obliged to provide a medical opinion on their medical fitness to study the health profession no later than on the day fixed for enrolment in the study programme.
After the assessment of the fulfilment of the basic conditions for admission to the study, the applicants with the highest number of points achieved will be admitted according to the criteria for the selection of applicants established by the FSVaZ.

The entrance examination in the admission procedure for studies starting from the academic year 2022/2023 is exempted in the study programme Nursing.

Other admission requirements:
The number of applicants, high school performance and activities will be taken into consideration in the selection process.
The rank order of admitted candidates will be based on the results of high school studies and extracurricular activities as follows:
1.) grade point average on end-of-year report cards for grades 2 and 3
2.) the final year subjects Biology and Foreign Language (in order: English, German, French).
In case the candidate has not passed the final exam in Biology, the subjects will be considered in the following order: graduate of SZS Theoretical part of the final exam , other candidates : Chemistry, Health Science, Slovak Language and Literature.
Applicants for the study programme Nursing are also obliged to provide a medical certificate of medical fitness for the study of the health profession no later than on the day set for enrolment.
