Teaching of Subjects of Physical Education

This study program must be combined with one of the following study programs:

  • Evangelical Lutheran Theological Faculty - Teaching of Religious Education
  • Faculty of Education - Teaching of Subjects of English language and Literature
  • Faculty of Education - Teaching of Subjects of History
  • Faculty of Education - Teaching of Subjects of German language and Literature
  • Faculty of Education - Teaching of Subjects Slovak language and literature
  • Faculty of Natural Sciences - Teaching of the Subjects of Biology
  • Faculty of Natural Sciences - Teaching of Subjects Geography
Prospects of graduates

Realisation in positions of teacher assistant of physical education and medical physical education, leisure time physical activity instructor for youth and adults, instructor, coach or coach assistant in recreational and youth performance sport, municipal worked for the area of physical education and sports. Also as an teach assistant for civic education, civic education and social education, worker in the area of public administration on local and regional level, worker in non-profit organisations. Possibility to continue with the 2nd level of university studies.

Conditions of admission

Every participant must during the physical part of the entrance exam pass in all indicated disciplines: running 50 m, Cooper's test, swimming, gymnastics and sporting game!

Passing in disciplines means:

·              running 50 m – running the whole distance of 50 m between pairs of electric eyes,

·              Cooper's test – taking the test for the whole 12 minutes,

·              swimming - to swim continuously 100 m style of choice,

·              gymnastics – pass the prescribed gymnastic series (headstand – roll, jump with a turn by 180° back roll to a headstand, somerset),

·              sporting game – to fulfil the performance standard of the selected sporting game.



General information on the admission exam

On April 27 – 30, 2010 there will be the first part of the entrance exam consisting of:

physical part – common for applicants to all study programmes,

theoretical written test – only for applicants to study programmes: coaching, coaching and Teaching of Subjects of physical education, sports and health, sports and health and Teaching of Subjects of physical education. 

Physical part of the entrance exam consists of the following disciplines, or tests:

running 50 m from semi-high start,

Cooper's test (12-minute run),

swimming 100 m art of choice,

gymnastics,

sporting game (applicant will chose based on his/her own consideration and will be evaluated on the entrance exam from one of the following sporting games: basketball, football, handball, volleyball).

Application form is to be sent to the address of: FTVŠ UK,  Nábr. L. Svobodu č. 9, 814 69 Bratislava. The Application Form must be filled out legibly (types or in block writing) and must contain all the following addenda:

·        Receipt confirming payment of the administration fee for entrance exams in the corresponding amount.

·        Medical confirmation of health ability issued by sports medicine physician. Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of the Comenius University requires medical confirmation on health ability for university studies and for all sports without limitation. The confirmation is to be issued exclusively by a sports medicine physician. An application form without a medical confirmation issued by sports medicine physician will not be accepted by the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports!

·        CV.

·        Verified photocopy of the secondary school leaving certificate - by notary, or Register Office (not the original or diplomas). Applicants taking the secondary school leaving exam in 2010 will send a verified copy of the secondary school leaving exam certificate later.

·        On the bottom part of the front side of the application each applicant must indicate a sporting game that he/she will participate in as part of the entrance exam. Applicant is to indicate one of the following sporting games: basketball, football, handball, volleyball.    

Applicants may submit only one application in which he/she indicates not more than three study programmes based on one's own priority. The order of study programmes is binding when admitting to the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of the Comenius University. If the applicant fulfils conditions of admission to several study programmes, he/she will be admitted to the one listed first. The results of the admission procedure may not be transferred to study programmes not indicated in the application form.
