Učiteľstvo hudby a cirkevnej hudby

The graduate of the Bachelor of Music and Church Music Teacher Studies program has a basic understanding of music and church music and their specific areas. He/she can also navigate the main pedagogical and psychological disciplines and is familiar with the organizational conditions of institutionalized education. Above all, however, the graduate is prepared to continue in a given programme of study at the 2nd cycle of higher education.

Prospects of graduates

The graduate acquires pedagogical competences and qualifications for assistant teacher (assistant teacher) of music education for primary education and for lower secondary education at primary schools; further for teachers of music education and church music at primary schools and also for teachers of music and church music in extracurricular institutions in the framework of extracurricular activities at primary schools, in leisure time centres and especially in churches and church choirs. The various religious denominations, with the help of these primary school and primary art school teachers, train organists, cantors, psalmists, conductors of church choirs and other church musicians from among the pupils and teachers of primary schools and primary art schools for church music. Practices in Slovakia need not only music teachers but also church music teachers for our churches and church choirs where live music is still preferred to non-live music. As far as musical instruments are concerned, for the Roman Catholic Church it is primarily the organ, for the Greek Catholic and Orthodox Churches it is the vocal, for the Evangelical Church and other churches - the piano, and possibly other musical instruments (violin, flute, trumpet, guitar, etc.), and for the Orthodox Church it is the piano.Pedagogical practice in this study programme takes place not only in schools (primary and elementary schools), but also in churches and church choirs, where this pedagogical practice is carried out under the name of cantorial practice.

General information on the admission exam

- The talent test and motivational interview with the candidate for the study make up 50% of the total assessment. The applicant's grade point average for all years of secondary school study is calculated according to the end-of-year report card and the average of the grades in the subjects of the final school-leaving examination. These values are averaged and multiplied by the coefficient of the secondary school from which the applicant has graduated (coefficient 1 for grammar school; coefficient 2 for vocational secondary school; coefficient 3 for vocational secondary school with matriculation). The resulting value determines the applicant's position in the order of success in the admissions procedure. If more than one applicant fulfils the admission requirements for a given study programme, those applicants who have demonstrated the highest level of aptitude for the study according to the admission requirements will be admitted.

The admission criteria for a given study programme are the same as those for a given study programme.
