The basic condition of admission to Bachelor level studies is the accomplishment of entire secondary education or entire secondary professional education.

Conditions for international students

Applicants from foreign countries can apply similarly as citizens of the Slovak Republic. Those foreign applicants who have attended the course of the Institute of Language and Professional Preparation of the Comenius University and passed the final exams successfully, are accepted to the Faculty with no entrance exams. Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Graduates of secondary schools who have passed the school-leaving exams at least in one profile subject will be accepted to the first year of the studies of the Bachelor level study programmes at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics without any entrance exams for all study programmes except those study programmes where the number of applicants would exceed the multiple of 1.5 of the planned number of accepted students. The Dean will accept without any entrance exams all of the applicants who have successfully completed a regional or state-wide round of A or B category Olympiad in at least one profile subject organised by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic, the Unity of Slovak Mathematicians and Physicists and the Slovak Society for Computer Science, or those who have successfully completed a state-wide round of the Secondary-school Professional Activity in a specialisation which is their profile subjects, or those who have successfully completed a state-wide round of the Young Physicist's Tournament if physics is their profiled course of study.

General information on the admission exam

Knowledge in the scope of grammar-school curriculum and the ability to use this knowledge in problem-solving is a requirement for entrance exams for the Bachelor level studies. Applicants interested in studying informatics are expected to know the basics of a programming language. Knowledge of at least one of the world languages is welcome. Applicants interested in studying economic and financial mathematics are expected to have good English language skills (some lectures are given in English).

An applicant can apply for a maximum of three study programmes in one application form. The applicants who indicate more than one study programme in their application will be allowed to take entrance exams in all of the subjects which come into consideration for the study programmes selected. If an applicant meets the conditions for acceptance to more than one study programme, she or he will be accepted to the programme applied for with the highest priority. We recommend to use this possibility to indicate alternative study programmes in second and third positions. These programmes will not influence the acceptance to the programme indicated with a higher priority and can be useful as an alternative solution especially for prominent study programmes. For teaching studies, the applicant indicated the double-major combination of qualification subjects (e.g. mathematics and physics).

The Faculty will send instructions for admission procedure to the registered applicants no later than 30 days before the entrance exam. If an applicant cannot take part in the entrance exam in the regular term due to a collision with an entrance exam to another faculty, she or he can request a change of the exam's date no later than June 1st 2010. If an applicant has indicated more than one study programme in their application will be allowed to take entrance exams in all of the subjects which come into consideration for the study programmes selected. If the applicant has met the conditions for acceptance to more than one study programme, she or he will be accepted to the programme indicated with the highest priority. The entrance exam in Biology as well as the practical exam in Physical Education will be held in cooperation with other Faculties of the Comenius University (Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Physical Education and Sports and Faculty of Natural Sciences). The date of the practical (talent) exam in physical education will be specified by the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports of the Comenius University.
