Graduate Profile

The graduate has knowledge of the structure and properties of wood, its modifications and interactions with other substances and various forms of energy, the technologies of processing and transformation of wood into wood products and the laws of these processes. He/she is able to apply knowledge about the properties of materials and furniture structures, on the basis of which he/she is able to solve problems of the innovation process of creating new functional and safe products, with a focus on interior elements and furniture.



Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the study programme "Creation and Construction of Furniture" will be employed in design teams with the use of knowledge for innovation and development of new products and technical equipment related to furniture construction. It has the prerequisites to occupy senior technical or managerial positions, in project management, in improving the quality of production and products by introducing quality systems in wood and wood materials processing plants. He can find employment in testing or research and development institutes, in Slovakia and abroad. He is competent to set up his own furniture and wood products manufacturing plants and design offices with a focus on furniture creation. They can provide professional services related to technologies and products necessary for furniture production.

After completing additional teaching studies, graduates may work as a teacher of vocational subjects at secondary school and as a staff member at university.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Admission of applicants to all engineering study programmes of the Forestry department will take place in the form of a selective admission procedure without the participation of applicants. The level and nature of the bachelor's studies completed will be assessed on the basis of an evaluation of the weighted average of the entire bachelor's studies and the overall result of the state examination. Graduates of a study programme in a related field will be required to take selected courses from the core of the first degree in Wood Science without credit.

The selective admission procedure without the participation of applicants will take place on 20.7.2022.

General information on the admission exam
  • officially certified copy of the university diploma of the first degree, state examination certificate and diploma supplement (a statement of the results of the completed bachelor's degree examinations with the weighted study average for the bachelor's degree) - submit or submitthe following. deliver to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Woodworking immediately after obtaining them - mandatory attachment,

  • electronic application formfor studies should be filled in, printed directly from the system, signed and sent to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Woodworking within the deadline for submission of applications for studies.

  • for each study programme it is necessary to submit an application form separately,

  • the condition of admission to study in the study programme Furniture Creation and Construction of the study field of Woodworking is the completion of the first degree study programme in the field of Woodworking, or in related fields,

  • information about registered applications of applicants will be published on the website of the Technical University, in the university system UIS in the section results of entrance examinations after entering the applicant's birth number: http://is.tuzvo.sk/prijimacky/verejne_vysledky.pl,
  • the number of admitted students is planned for each study programme separately,

  • the order of students admitted to the study programmes will be determined on the basis of the results achieved and the nature of the first I degree studies completed, and for the Furniture Design study programme also on the basis of the portfolio evaluation,
