Doctoral studies
They represent the third level of university studies. They are a continuation of Master studies and last three years in regular form, and five years in distance form. Students sit for doctoral exam once they attain half of their studies and they finish their studies with a dissertation after which they earn the "doctor philosophiae" (PhD.) degree.
Prospects of graduates
Doctoral students can apply for vacant posts of lecturers at JSU RTF or other faculties where reformed theology, theology or related subjects are taught at least partially.
PhD. degree is appreciated for higher ecclesiastical posts.

Doctoral studies entrance exam:
· personal interview focused on theological subjects
The interview is assessed by a commission and assessment is recorded in entrance exam records.

Additional information
The main mission of doctoral studies of reformed theology is to provide exhaustive preparation to future academic and scientific staff at the faculty and to leaders of the Reformed Christian Church in Slovakia and abroad or other Protestant churches. The faculty is the only reformed one in Slovakia to train and educate ecclesiastical leaders and provides training and education of reformed ecclesiastical staff for other European countries as well.
Doctoral distance study programme is subject to fees.
Conditions for international students
Conditions of admssion for international students are identical to those applying to citizens of the Slovak Republic. Secondary education qualifications obtained abroad shall be validated in the SR and proving documents submitted at Students Department by appointed deadline.

Contidional of admission for Doctoral Studies:
Pursuant to Act No. 131/2002 Coll., principal prerequisites for enrolment in doctoral studies include:
completion of university studies finished with a state exam in theology at a reformed or other Protestant theological faculty, weighed average score not more than 1.5, filled in application for doctoral studies sent out by appointed date, list of publications in specialised and ecclesiastical press sent out by appointed date, satisfactory interview.

The applicant for studies shall pay the fees for the admission procedure by a non-cash bank transfer to the designated account of UJS, indicating the variable symbol (VS).
The payment order with the correct details will be generated to the applicant by the UJS e-application portal after confirmation.
For the candidates who have submitted the application form in hard copy only, the remittance order with correctly set details will be sent by the study department of the concerned faculty through email to the given email address or through post.
J. Selye University recommends applicants to pay the admission fee by bank transfer.
