ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNIQUEnology

Within the second degree of their professional education in applied sciences the graduates gain good theoretical and methodological professional basis and practical experience necessary for solving a wide spectre of problems related to the designing, projecting and operation of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and other facilities that are applied in heating, ventilation and gas systems, taking advantage of modern computing methods.

The study programme Environmental Technique deals with comfort microclimate and cleanliness of the environment inside buildings (residential, office, industrial buildings), power equipment with the help of which it is possible to create and adjust the internal environment, and with the use of different energy sources. The graduates are employable in the design, projecting and operation of heating, air conditioning and gas systems as well as in those areas solving problems of reduction of the technological processes´ energy intensity, of efficient use of thermal energy (both in industry and in municipal construction) and issues of utilisation of renewable (alternative) energy sources.

Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the engineering study programme Environmental Engineering within the field of study Mechanical Engineering has extensive professional and methodological knowledge at the level of assessment with a focus on energy machinery and equipment and with a professional focus and profiling on environmental engineering, which deals with energy and technical means, equipment and systems for achieving the required parameters of the indoor environment in buildings as well as in other environments, as well as energy sources and systems for supplying buildings with energy at the highest efficiency and with the least environmental burden on the environment. The graduate will acquire unique knowledge, skills and competences that reflect the current modern trends in the field of environmental engineering, thus acquiring the prerequisites for independent and creative work in the design, planning, construction, operation, energy machines, equipment and systems for the field of environmental engineering and their components.

The graduate of the study programme Environmental Technology has professional knowledge and skills in the operation, maintenance, construction, design and design of energy machines, equipment and systems for the field of environmental technology and their parts and components in terms of ensuring appropriate thermal-technical conditions in buildings, both from the point of view of man and from the point of view of ensuring appropriate operating conditions of the given technologies. Understands the essential phenomena in the processes taking place in these installations. Can identify the problems associated with the construction, design, implementation, design and operation of energy machines, equipment and systems for the field of environmental engineering. Is proficient in the fundamentals of measurement theory, measurement system design, mathematical process modelling and software design of technical equipment and systems in the field of environmental engineering. He has knowledge of advanced technologies applied in the field of energy machinery, equipment and systems for environmental engineering, such as renewable energy sources, Best Available Techniques (BAT), 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing, 3D designing. Building Information Modeling (BIM design), the efficient design and operation of these technologies with minimal environmental impact, the reduction of energy consumption of buildings and the operation of energy and environmental engineering, their optimal operation and computer support, the design and design of energy machinery, equipment and systems for the field of environmental engineering. It has knowledge of the manufacture, construction and operation, design and improvement of the efficiency of energy systems and the reduction of their energy consumption.

Graduates will find employment as members of a creative team, its leaders or independent responsible workers in the field of design, operation, implementation and design of optimal solutions of energy systems and equipment for environmental technology in buildings, development of new technologies and equipment of environmental technology in buildings, etc.

The structure of the engineering study programme Environmental Technology creates conditions for deeper profiling of graduates of the engineering degree of study and at the same time prepares graduates for continuing their studies at the third, doctoral level of study.

Graduates of the engineering study programme Environmental Engineering are applied in upper and middle management, especially in the engineering industry and energy sector. Graduates are also employed in state or local government in the fields of energy or environment.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to engineering studies (second-degree study programme) is the acquisition of a first-degree university degree (Act on Higher Education No.131/2002 Coll., as amended). In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed his/her studies abroad, he/she shall submit with his/her application for university studies, no later than at the time of enrolment, a decision on the recognition of the proof of completion of the first degree by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic, or shall apply to UNIZA for the recognition of the proof of education.

Other admission conditions

Other conditions of admission of applicants to the study programmes of engineering studies of the Faculty of Engineering of UNIZA are set according to § 57 of the Act. The admission procedure shall be conducted in the form of a selection procedure in order to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and prerequisites enter the study.

Additional information

All information regarding the admission procedure is published on the faculty's website:

https://www.fstroj.uniza.sk/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=page&id=219

Conditions for international students

For foreign applicants, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students studying in a language other than the national language pay tuition fees according to the conditions set out in Section 92(8) of the Higher Education Act. Tuition fees are set by a UNIZA directive and published for the relevant academic year on the University's website. Foreign students studying in the Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the form valid in the Czech Republic to apply for studies. Applicants who do not have an active knowledge of Slovak or Czech are required to successfully complete language training (with the possibility of completing it at UNIZA).

For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral agreements or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Without an entrance exam, applicants who have achieved a B.Sc. up to 2,6 /including the state final examination/ and have completed a study programme in mechanical engineering.

In the case of graduation from a study programme in another field of study, the guarantor of the relevant study programme will decide on the possibility of admitting the applicant without an entrance examination. In the event that the number of applicants /VP ≤ 2,6/ exceeds the capacity of the given study programme, all applicants will be admitted on the basis of the result of the entrance examination.
