The professional profile of a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering study programme is characterised by theoretical, but mainly practical knowledge of constructology and mechanical engineering technologies, production equipment and automation, quality of mechanical engineering production, economics and production management, as well as habits and the ability to skillfully apply this knowledge in practice. The graduate of the study acquires theoretical, but mainly practical knowledge of the most widespread technologies of mechanical engineering production, as well as of the field of automation of mechanical engineering production, acquires habits and skills in design and technological activities, using modern technological means. Graduates also have basic knowledge in the field of production, testing, technological processing, selection, exploitation and degradation of the properties of the main types of engineering materials. They are especially prepared to work in industrial enterprises in the field of production of technical materials, their technological processing into semi-finished products and products, as well as in the field of their quality control, purchasing, sales, service and maintenance. Graduates can have a wide range of applications in the operation of industrial engineering enterprises, in railway and urban public transport, in all areas of engineering and in other organisations of an administrative, production, operational or repair nature. Graduates have adequate knowledge in the field of electronics, mechatronics, robotics as well as in the field of computer support of mechanical engineering production. They have sufficient practical experience and skills in laboratory work, have adequate knowledge of professional terminology in a foreign language, know the basics of economic methods necessary for the operation of existing systems. Detailed information about the study programme is published on the faculty's website: https://www.fstroj.uniza.sk/index.php/akreditacia/studijne-programy/ing

Prospects of graduates

Graduates of the study programme Mechanical Engineering (2nd degree - Ing.) find their application also with regard to their specialization (shaped by the choice of their study plan) in the following areas:
- as specialists in the field of designing automated production and assembly systems, - as technologists in the field of production technologies with a focus on machining, welding, casting, forming, heat treatment, - as specialists in the diagnostics of machinery and equipment; - as engineers and specialists in the field of bearing and automotive production in the manufacture of components from difficult-to-machine materials, specialists in metrology and quality in mechanical engineering, innovation in production processes, etc. Due to the acquired knowledge and skills not only of a professional/specialized nature, but also a certain portfolio of transferable competences, our graduates are able to apply themselves also in associated areas of the economy, possibly as self-employed persons, etc.
