Graduate Profile

Graduates of the study programme "Wood-processing Supported by Information Technology" have knowledge in the field of structure and properties of wood and wood composite materials, wood processing technologies and their machinery and technological equipment, construction and design of products, management and economics.

They have a thorough knowledge of wood processing technologies and are able to analyse the problems and opportunities that open up in these technologies. They are able to work with managers, technologists and specialists from other professions, which requires knowledge of business, organisation and management.

Graduates of the study programme can find employment in the woodworking, furniture, pulp and paper and chemical industries, construction, as well as in other sectors of the economy.

The graduates of the study programme have the following theoretical knowledge:

- understands the essential facts, concepts and principles related to wood processing and the creation of wood products,

- know how to apply theory, practices and tools appropriately in woodworking technologies and wood product construction.

- know how to apply theory, practices and tools appropriately in woodworking technologies and wood product construction.

The graduates of the study programme possess the following practical abilities and skills:

- solve basic technological and technical problems in wood processing processes,

- know standard methods for determining the properties and quality of raw materials and products,

- knows how to operate efficiently and effectively machinery and technological equipment,

- participates in the pre-production preparation of wood products.

The graduates of the study programme have the following additional knowledge, abilities and skills:

- can indicate technical, technological and economic problems in the production process,

- can work effectively as a member of a work team and manage a team at the appropriate level of management,

- can keep in touch with developments in his/her field,

- can continue their own professional development and their studies at Level 2.



Prospects of graduates

The graduates of the study programme "Wood-processing Supported by Information Technology" have knowledge of technologies and methods of control of technological processes and product designs, on the basis of which they can solve technological and technical problems in wood processing processes. It is proficient in related commercial and consultancy activities, as well as in standard methods for determining the properties and quality of wood and wood-based products.

Graduates of the study programme "Wood-processing Supported by Information Technology" will find employment mainly as technologists in the field of wood processing, mainly:

- in sawmill enterprises and operations,

- in the production of special sawmill products,

- in the field of drying, hydrothermal treatment and thermal modification of wood,

- in the field of protection of wood and wood products,

- in the production of plywood and agglomerated wood materials,

- in the recovery of wood waste for biofuels,

- in wood chemical processing plants.

The application of graduates ranges from small and primary wood processors to plants and plants for complex processing of wood raw material. They can be employed in the field of preparation and production assurance, but also as specialists in the field of trade in wood products and semi-finished products.

The study programme "Wood-processing Supported by Information Technology" is able to prepare graduates at a high professional level for the field of mechanical and chemical-mechanical wood processing. This field of study is based on a multidisciplinary foundation of natural, technical, economic and social science disciplines. Graduates, according to the level of higher education and the study programme, can find employment in the management of technological processes and production operations aimed at the mechanical and chemical-mechanical processing and recovery of wood - a renewable natural domestic raw material.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Admission to study in the study programme Carpentry with the support of information technologies takes place without entrance examinations, only on the basis of the evaluation of the study results from secondary school.

The academic results achieved will be expressed by the average value of the academic performance during the secondary school studies,

  • study average to be calculated from the end-of-year report cards of the 4 years of secondary school,

  • for a scholastic average of 1.00 is 100 points, for a scholastic average of 4.00 is 0 points. A linear function is used to assign the number of points according to the average,

  • disregard the level in the graduation average and evaluate it for information only,

  • the quality of achievement at different types of schools will be taken into account by multiplying the score achieved by a factor of 1.00 for grammar school graduates, by a factor of 0.9 for vocational school graduates and by a factor of 0.8 for apprenticeship school graduates.

General information on the admission exam
  • Candidate's curriculum vitae - compulsory attachment,

  • receipt of payment of the admission fee - compulsory attachment,

  • for each study programme and form of study it is necessary to submit an application for university studies separately,

  • foreign students apply and are admitted to study under the same conditions as applicants from the Slovak Republic,

  • applicants are admitted to study on the basis of the evaluation of the results of studies from secondary school (except for applicants of Furniture and Interior Design)

  • Applicants who graduate in the 2021/2022 school year shall have their grade point average and transcript of grades from the end-of-year report cards of grades 1-3 of the high school confirmed by the principal of the graduating high school on the application form.

  • Authenticated copy of the graduation certificate and the certificate of the 4th year are required to be delivered by all applicants to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Wood immediately upon receipt - no later than June 15, 2022,

  • Applicants who graduated last year and earlier shall attach to the application form a officially certified photocopy of the graduation report card and all report cards from secondary school (apprenticeship, post-secondary studies) and insert in the application form the grade point average of each year of the end-of-year report cards of grades 1 - 4,

  • electronic application form for studies must be completed, printed directly from the system, signed, confirmed with the study average and the statement of grades for each year of secondary school completed respectively. submit to the Dean's Office of the Faculty of Woodworking together with the confirmation of payment of the application fee within the deadline for submission of applications for studies.

  • information about registered applications of applicants will be published on the website of the Technical University, in the university system UIS in the section results of entrance examinations after entering the applicant's birth number: http://is.tuzvo.sk/prijimacky/verejne_vysledky.pl,
  • the faculty will send a notification to the applicants for the study programmes in which the entrance examination is prescribed,

  • the number of admitted students is planned for each study programme separately (see the list of accredited SPs).
