Social psychology

The doctoral study programme General and Experimental Psychology in the field of psychology focuses on the acquisition of knowledge based on the current state of scientific knowledge and, in particular, on the doctoral student's own contribution, which is the result of scientific research and independent creative activity in the field of general and experimental psychology. The doctoral study programme consists of a study and a scientific part.

The study part takes place mainly in the form of individual study, colloquia, lectures, seminars and consultations. Part of the full-time form of doctoral studies is also the performance of teaching activities.

The scientific part focuses mainly on the publication of professional and scientific studies and on the preparation and completion of the dissertation under the supervision of a supervisor. The scientific part of the programme also includes, within the framework of selected scientific activities, presentations at scientific events, scientific internships at home or abroad, participation in team-based scientific projects, as well as other scientific and professional activities.

Prospects of graduates

A graduate of doctoral studies is able to acquire the latest knowledge in the field, to expand the scope of knowledge through his/her own scientific and research activity and to apply it in social-psychological practice as well as in other related branches of psychology. By studying, the graduate acquires the ability to analyse psychological phenomena with a high level of abstract thinking, coupled with the ability to penetrate from the phenomenal aspect of psychological reality to its essence, i.e. to reveal the psychological mechanisms of the problem under study. In terms of the anticipated application in his profession, he is mainly oriented towards a scientific career, as a research institute worker or member of scientific research teams; university teacher of psychological disciplines; creative expert. Last but not least, he/she can be employed in psychological practice, especially in those areas that require theoretical and research analysis of the psychological context of the practice. The Department of Psychology maintains contact with its alumni through an annual alumni conference. At this conference, graduate students of psychology at the Faculty of Arts of TU meet and present papers related to their work and their professional and scientific activities.
