USM in Košice is dedicated to the higher education of professionals for practice on a broad scale with a concentration on knowledge in law, security sciences, economics, technical sciences, logistics, environmental science and other areas. The broad spectrum of subjects taught gives the graduate the foundation of knowledge necessary for a realistic assessment of the day-to-day demands placed on the manager and for making the right decisions, with an emphasis on safety aspects.

The student of the Eng. degree chooses (according to his/her own interest) a complementary specialised profiling by selecting the appropriate module of elective subjects from different areas of safety:

- security of financial operations and corruption,
- cyber security,
- environmental security,
- security in transport and transport infrastructure,
- integral security in air transport.

The graduates will thus be profiled in their chosen field by elective subjects of the study program, the topic of the thesis and the elective subject of the state examination. Each year also retains the same core subjects in the field of security sciences.

Prospects of graduates

USM in Košice organises full-time and part-time studies in the study programme Security Systems Management, in the 1st level (bachelor), in the 2nd level (engineering) of university studies and in the 3rd level (doctoral) of university studies.

Graduate Application :

placement in the public and private sectors,
management functions in organisations in the provision of multifaceted security tasks,
representing functions with the role of estimating risk to the managed area,
leadership functions in security forces,
management functions in the Slovak integrated rescue system,
priority recruitment to the Slovak Police Force and the Slovak Armed Forces,
graduate has knowledge of managerial functions in the field of civil security. To the extent required, he/she has knowledge of the interpretation and application of the law in the system of public or private organisations dealing with all-round security.

Conditions of admission

In the course of full-time education, students take a special course in survival in difficult conditions under the supervision of professional instructors and are awarded a certificate of a specialist in survival in difficult conditions (photo). During the course of study, graduates also have the opportunity to obtain a martial arts course graduate certificate (photo), as well as the "S" security services worker's proficiency certificate and the education necessary to obtain a firearms licence.

In case of successful admission, an application must be made at the accommodation of your choice.

General information on the admission exam

Only one programme of study can be applied for per application form. A copy of the Admission Fee Slip must be pasted on the 3rd page of the application form. The application form must include a handwritten and signed CV, a certified photocopy of the Bachelor's state examination certificate, a certified photocopy of the B.Sc. diploma, a transcript of courses taken in the Bc. studies and 3 colour passport-size photographs.

Form of entrance exam

The admission interview is conducted in person at the college premises. USM welcomes if the applicant is accompanied by close persons for the admission interview, which is useful for an objective assessment of the conditions for study and the final decision to study with us. The admission interview before the committee is private and the applicant presents the reasons for his/her interest in studying, his/her overview of the content of the study programme, his/her expectations for graduation and his/her knowledge of the study conditions. The boards shall be composed of experts in the field of study and of persons qualified to assess whether the applicant fulfils the required qualification framework. In any case, the aim of the interview is to clarify the study offer and the applicant's expectations in a friendly atmosphere and, where appropriate, to answer questions of the applicant that are not answered in publicly available sources.
In the case of applicants from abroad, the interview is conducted in English, or a member of the committee is a person with a knowledge of the applicant's home language. Such an interview also includes an examination of the interest in language training organised by the school, as the study programme is taught in Slovak

The interviewee shall be a member of the interview panel.
