INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT

During the study the undergraduates gain knowledge mainly in the field of technical and natural sciences, company management, production and information technologies, company logistics, organisation of support and service operations and their economic dependence. During the study they are focused on organisation and management of processes at the level of basic production units (workshops, production plants), which corresponds with the structure of the study programme and the contents of the individual subjects. The graduates in the bachelor´s study programme receive theoretical knowledge necessary for efficient control of production units and their processes. During the study the graduates become proficient users of software applications and they are able to apply basic methods of industrial engineering in practice. The Industrial Engineering and Management bachelor´s study programme graduates are employable as managerial and coordination staff mainly in basic production units and in departments in industrial engineering, further in selected departments of middle management level of industrial companies. They are prepared to work as technicians of quality and/or productivity, co- designers of production systems, production managers, employees in technical preparation of production, industrial engineers, employees of the production planning and control departments, logistics departments, quality management departments, maintenance departments and human resources departments, etc.



Prospects of graduates

The graduate of the bachelor's study programme Industrial Engineering will find his/her application as a managerial and coordinating worker mainly in basic production units and industrial engineering departments and further on selected mid-level management departments of industrial enterprises. He is trained as a quality and productivity engineer, assistant production systems designer, production manager, production engineering technician, industrial engineer, production planning and control unit worker, logistics unit worker, quality management unit worker, maintenance unit worker, human resources unit worker, etc. Employers of graduates of the study programme include companies such as Schaeffler Slovakia, KIA Motors Slovakia, Mobis, Danfoss, Asseco CEIT, Volkswagen Slovakia, KINEX and many others.

The structure of the bachelor's degree programme Industrial Engineering creates conditions for deeper profiling of graduates of the bachelor's degree and at the same time prepares graduates to continue their studies at the second, engineering degree.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to the Bachelor's degree (first degree study programme) is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education (Act on Higher Education No.131/2002 Coll., as amended). In the case of a foreign applicant or a student who has completed secondary education abroad, this is an education comparable to that completed by the matriculation examination in the Slovak Republic. An applicant who has obtained secondary education abroad shall submit a decision on the recognition of the document on the completion of secondary education by the relevant institution in the Slovak Republic with the application for university studies, or at the latest at the time of enrolment in the studies.

Other admission conditions

Other conditions of admission of applicants to the study programmes of the Bachelor's Degree of the Faculty of Science of UNIZA are set according to § 57 of the Act. The admission procedure shall be conducted in the form of a selection procedure in order to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and prerequisites enter the study.

Conditions for international students

For foreign applicants, the admission conditions apply as for applicants from the Slovak Republic. Foreign students studying in a language other than the national language pay tuition fees according to the conditions set out in Section 92(8) of the Higher Education Act. Tuition fees are set by a UNIZA directive and published for the relevant academic year on the University's website. Foreign students studying in the Slovak language do not pay tuition fees. Applicants from the Czech Republic may use the form valid in the Czech Republic to apply for studies. Applicants who do not have an active knowledge of Slovak or Czech are required to successfully complete language training (with the possibility of completing it at UNIZA).

For foreign applicants admitted on the basis of interstate agreements, bilateral agreements or for scholarship holders of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the conditions specified in the relevant documents apply.



Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

Without an entrance exam the following are admitted:

a) applicants from gymnasium and secondary industrial school of mechanical engineering, civil engineering or electrical engineering who have achieved an overall average of grades in all subjects in the last three years of study at the secondary school up to 2.8, including 2.8,

b) applicants from secondary vocational schools, combined schools and academies who have achieved an overall average of grades in all subjects in the last three pre-secondary school years up to and including 2.6 on their end-of-year report cards,

c) applicants who have graduated in mathematics with a grade no worse than 3,

d) applicants who have taken the NPS (SCIO) general academic aptitude or mathematics tests in the current school year and have achieved a percentile score of at least 60,

d) applicants who have taken the NPS (SCIO) general academic aptitude or mathematics tests in the current school year and have achieved a percentile score of at least 60,e) applicants who have been successful in a mathematics, physics, or computer science Olympiad in a regional or national round during their secondary school studies,

e) applicants who have been successful in a regional or national round during their secondary school studies

f) applicants who have been successful in a regional, national or international round of a major knowledge-based professional competition.

To be admitted without an entrance examination, it is sufficient to fulfil one of the conditions listed above in points (a) to (f).

General information on the admission exam

All applicants who do not meet the admission requirement without an entrance exam must take an entrance exam. The entrance examination is conducted in the form of a test of the secondary school curriculum, focusing on basic knowledge in science, technology and social sciences.
