Law (in English)
The law study programme in Law combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the orientation in the legal order and its interpretation, in the creation, implementation and application of law. Law is an interrelated, internally structured system of generally binding norms for the functioning of human society in accordance with the principles of democracy and the rule of law. Contemporary law is characterised by polycentrism, i.e. creation in several centres and at several levels. In particular, the national level, the level of European Union law and the level of international law.
The study of law takes place from the perspective of all these levels in their interrelationships, including from the perspective of legal comparatistics, that is, the comparison of the legal systems of several states. In dealing with specific factual situations, the student learns to recognize where to look for the relevant legal standard and how to interpret it, often linking legal standards from these multiple levels or multiple branches of law. The study is fully consistent with the principle of the democratic rule of law, respect for the human person, the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, and the principles of honest legal professional and scholarly activity.
