Nursing is a distinct discipline concerned with the person, family and community in health and illness. As a discipline, it integrates knowledge from other disciplines concerned with the study of people, society and the environment. The basic principles of the field of study are based on a broad understanding of the importance of the work of nurses, who are the largest group of health care professionals and are seen as key in securing reform strategies. They have an important role to play in the humanisation of patient care, which demonstrates the need for well-prepared nurses who are sufficiently flexible, accept responsibility for their work and are competent to work in multidisciplinary and multiprofessional teams in hospitals, outpatient clinics and communities. The Nursing study programme consists of a set of courses comprising educational activities, which are mainly lectures, seminars, practicals and professional practice - clinical practicals, continuous professional practice and summer internships. Nursing is one of the five regulated health professions that were declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) - WHO in 1992.
