Optics, Lasers and Optical Spectroscopy

Prospects of graduates

A graduate has got the capacity to solve common physical problems in modern optics independently or in teams, especially in the area of laser physics and optical information processing. The graduate is able to bring modern principles and methods of optics into other scientific disciplines, to create and use computer models of physical phenomena and use competently modern optical systems and devices. Studying this programme creates conditions for continuation of studies on the third level, especially in the study programme of Quantum Electronics and Optics.

The profound and yet sufficiently broad knowledge achieved in this programme enables the graduates to get employed in traditional workplaces such as universities and facilities of the Slovak Academy of Sciences as well as directly in industrial centres that are currently in development in Slovakia. Lasers and optical elements have nowadays also penetrated the field of informatics where they address the issues of optical computers and transmission and optical processing of optical signals and data.
