International Management

The study programme International Management in the field of study Economics and Management enables to prepare graduates with a broad managerial basis and professional theoretical knowledge and practical competence so that they will be able to carry out qualified, goal-oriented, independent activity in the international environment, they will be able to analyse simple economic phenomena and processes in economic entities and take appropriate managerial decisions. The study programme in International Management differs from the study programme in Management in that students study some professional subjects in French or German, with lecturers from France, Germany and Austria also providing teaching. Respecting the requirements of the labour market, we place emphasis on the acquisition of knowledge in the field of management and international management, which is complemented by the improvement of professional language competences. The content structure of individual courses has an international dimension and is compatible with the curricula of renowned universities of the European Union member states, while the main subjects correspond to the recommended structure of the core knowledge of the study field of Economics and Management. The subjects of the programme are designed to give students the ability to orient themselves in business within the European Economic Area. The education focuses on management education, personnel management, financial management, intercultural management, international investment relations, international organisations and international trade. Among other things, emphasis is placed on students being able to work with complex information systems in companies.
Students have the opportunity to undertake various extra-curricular activities as part of their studies, which include excursions to companies abroad, a visit to a selected university in Europe, or they can present their views at an international scientific conference.



Prospects of graduates

A graduate of the study programme is eligible after its successful completion to hold the following positions (also in terms of individual functional areas of management, which are contained in the individual courses):

  • can become a specialist in the field of international human resources who implements in practice all the functions of human resources management, ranging from work activity analysis to collective bargaining (i.e., e.g., human resources manager, HR manager, HR coordinator),
  • is able to carry out the accounting function in the enterprise, effectively manage the accounting and administrative departments, carry out and manage planning, budgeting (operational, investment, financial), carry out and manage performance control (i.e. e.g. payroll accountant, controlling specialist, costing, pricing and costing specialist),
  • Specialist - business economist,
  • who focuses their curriculum more on the application of marketing principles, can be employed as a customer care specialist, sales representative, product manager or advertising officer, with an emphasis on the differences in an international environment.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission is the acquisition of a complete secondary or complete secondary vocational education (presentation of a high school leaving certificate).

Additional information

If the Slovak applicant attended a foreign secondary school, the same conditions apply to him/her as to the foreign applicant/applicant.

Applicants for studies at the Faculty of Management Comenius University Bratislava will use the electronic application form via the UK Electronic Application Portal (https://e-prihlaska.uniba.sk/) or the AIS2 system, from which they will also receive payment instructions. The electronic application form does not need to be printed.



Conditions for international students

An applicant who has completed his/her previous studies abroad must provide a certified copy of his/her final high school diploma/graduation certificate and a certified copy of the Decision on Recognition of the Education Document = Nostrification of the Education Document (to be arranged at the Regional Office of the School Administration) in accordance with Act No. 422/2015 Coll. on the recognition of education documents and on the recognition of professional qualifications and on the amendment and supplementation of certain acts, as amended (general information at:https://www.minedu.sk/23276-sk/akademicke-uznavanie-dokladov-o-vzdelani-a-stupna-vzdelania/ and details on the process of assessing the equivalence of documents at: https://www.minedu.sk/uznavanie-ukonceneho-vzdelania-na-zakladnych-a-strednych-skolach/) Information is also available at Recognition of documents from studies abroad (uniba.sk).

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

According to the order specified in point 13), those applicants for study in study programmes accredited and offered by the Faculty who:

will be admitted to study without the obligation to take an entrance examination.

a) in the current school year (if the matriculation examination precedes the entrance examination), or in the previous school year, passed the external part of the matriculation examination in mathematics at a secondary school in Slovakia and achieved a percentile of at least 50, and at the same time passed the external part of the matriculation examination in English and achieved a percentile of at least 60. The condition of the external part of the final examination in English may be replaced by a B2 level certificate (English: Cambridge First Certificate, TOEFL 87-109, ECL), or

b) provide evidence of the average of grades for the entire secondary school studies in mathematics and English up to 1.8 from the end-of-year report cards, in the case of the final year from the half-year report card (in the case of eight-year grammar schools only for the last 4 years), provided that they have studied each of these subjects for at least 3 years in a Slovak or Czech secondary school, or

c)have been successful at least once in the last three years in a regional round or in a national round of a secondary school Olympiad (organised at national level), for applicants studying at a Slovak or Czech secondary school.

General information on the admission exam

The admission exam for the International Management programme is oral and consists of an exam in German or French (depending on your choice of specialisation) and a motivational interview. The admission examination is conducted by video conference call before the board.
