Management and Law
The study field of law and management combines theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the orientation in the legal order and its interpretation, in the creation, implementation and application of law. At the same time, this field of study provides the theoretical and practical basis for the graduate's application in middle and senior management positions.
Law represents an interrelated internally structured system of generally binding norms of functioning of human society in accordance with the principles of democratic and rule of law. Contemporary law is characterized by polycentrism, i.e. formation in several centers and at several levels. In particular, the national level, the level of European Union law and the level of international law. The study of law is carried out from the perspective of all these levels in their interrelationships, including from the point of view of legal comparatistics, i.e. the comparison of the legal systems of several states.
In dealing with specific factual situations, the student learns to recognize where to look for the relevant legal norm and how to interpret it, often linking legal norms from these multiple levels or multiple branches of law. The student acquires knowledge comprehensively and cross-cuttingly in relation to all the focal branches of the legal order. The study is fully in line with the principle of a democratic rule of law, respect for the human person, protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as with the principles of honest legal professional and scientific activity. It respects the main theories, concepts and schools of thought of scientific knowledge.
The graduate also possesses knowledge of general management concepts and their synthesis, categories and contexts, in accordance with the current state of domestic and international knowledge. It is able to classify knowledge concerning the economic system, legislation and the economic laws governing the functioning of its various functional areas. Thanks to knowledge of the key categorical apparatus, the student is able to name connections, identify possible solutions and draw general conclusions.
Prospects of graduates
During their studies, graduates will acquire knowledge and skills in the fields of management, human resources management, marketing, information systems, entrepreneurship, financial management, statistics and law. In terms of skills (both cognitive and practical), they are able to design solutions to practical management problems with a legal basis and furthermore to use creatively available methods and tools. As the programme focuses on specific knowledge and skills in the two disciplines of law and management, we anticipate that graduates proficient in the two areas of management and law are in demand in the labour market.
