Specialization Air Transport

Graduates have comprehensive knowledge and skills (including language skills) required for managerial positions in a wide range of air transport undertakings - airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, ground handling service providers, manufacturers of aircraft and aviation equipment, as well as managerial positions of the State Administration of the Slovak Republic in the field of civil aviation. They are also employable in the air forces of the Slovak Army, civil defence security and rescue services. Graduates are able to work independently in the field of research and development with a high degree of creativity at the international level. With regard to the concept of subjects taught in which air transport is reflected as a global economic sector and a global transport system, graduates are ready to work not only in the Member States of the European Union but also all around the world.

Specialization Aircraft Maintenance Technology

Graduates are able to demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of aircraft maintenance techniques based on knowledge of technical, operational and practical requirements of air transport, using practical information obtained during the study in order to improve the functioning of transport and management processes in transport. They are also employable in the air forces of the Army of the Slovak Republic, in security, civil defence and rescue services. Graduates are able to work independently in the field of research and development with a high degree of creativity even at the international level. Emphasis is put on the acquisition of theoretical basis that allow easier adaptation and further professional growth of graduates, as well as on the acquisition of knowledge in the field of air operations, enabling quick application of graduates in practice, in management of multinational teams of workers in the field of civil aviation and independent management of projects and taking responsibility for complete solutions. Graduates are able to use sophisticated technical approaches to solve problems and during the study they will gain experience in formulating hypotheses and analysing the data obtained.

Conditions of admission

The condition is completion of level 1 of the university study and setting the order of applicants according to the order based on the achieved arithmetic study result average during the study at the first level university study. Those applicants shall be preferred who attended the same study program at the first level university study and only in case the number of applicants is not filled up, then this study programme will be completed with applicants from a related study programme.

The applicants accepted for the study that attended university study in a different study programme (already have a title of level 2) will be registered into the first year of engineer study only after payment of the fee whose amount is determined according to the Act No. 131/2002 Coll., Section 92 on universities and in compliance with the statute of The University of Žilina in Žilina.

The study program can be taught also in English language.



Conditions for international students

Foreign study applicants are admitted on the basis of relevant intergovernmental agreements, or study at their own expense.The applicants from EU countries are admitted and study under the same conditions as the students  from the Slovak Republic. The applicants from the Czech Republic may use for submitting the study application form valid in the Czech Republic. In case of applicants who do not actively speak Slovak or Czech, a successful completion of language training (with possibility of performance at the ZU in Zilina) is required.

Foreign study applicants that study at their own expenses shall submit the required materials (documents of previous study, etc.) and according to the individual assessment of the applicant the dean of the faculty shall decide on acceptance (non-acceptance) for the study without entrance exams. More detailed information and criteria for assessment of the applicants in the admission procedure for full-time and part-time Bachelor and engineer study are published on the website of the faculty (http://www.fpedas.uniza.sk).



Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

The applicants for this study programme shall be accepted only in the form of an entrance interview, without writing tests.

General information on the admission exam

Obligatory addenda to application form

The details on the results of the preceding study of the applicants that were or are the students of the Bachelor study at the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications of The University of Žilina shall be enclosed to the application by the study department of the Faculty of Operation and Economics of Transport and Communications of The University of Žilina. Other applicants shall enclose the extract of subjects and marks gained during the preceding university study confirmed by the faculty or the university that issued the extract and the document on study completion (diploma).

The copy of the slip on payment of the fee or the copy of the transfer order (must be pasted on the third page above the signature of the applicant). The applicant is obliged to bring the original copy of the slip on payment of the fee or the original copy of the transfer order in person for presentation on the day of the admission procedure to the room determined according to the invitation.
