Nursing care

The candidate has general knowledge at the level of synthesis in a field of study that integrates knowledge of nursing science, biomedical sciences, social sciences and human sciences. The student identifies from the relevant disciplines the basic conceptual apparatus used to describe the organs and systems of healthy and diseased human beings in terms of anatomical, physiological, pathophysiological and clinical aspects, dealing with their psychological processes and characteristics, the influences of their social and cultural environment, as well as their spirituality, beliefs and worldview. It can evaluate the findings and the connections between them in the context of nursing care. Can explain the legal and ethical standards required to practise nursing. Can identify and practically solve professional problems in nursing practice based on analytical, critical and conceptual thinking. The candidate is characterised by independence in solving specific problems in assessing patient needs, planning, delivering and documenting nursing care. Demonstrates autonomy and responsibility in making decisions and implementing preventive, supportive, curative, and rehabilitative care to individuals, families, and groups. Can effectively, independently, and critically evaluate the need for nursing care in changing ambulatory and inpatient health care settings and in collaboration with other health care professionals.



Prospects of graduates

A graduate of the study field acquires the basic qualification for the performance of the profession of a nurse. The student will work as a nurse in nursing practice in inpatient units of health care institutions, in primary health care, in home nursing care agencies and participate in nursing care management and nursing education.

Conditions of admission

The basic condition for admission to the three-year bachelor's study programme in the full-time form of study (completed by obtaining the degree "B.Sc.") is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education.
Another condition for admission to ensure that applicants with the necessary abilities and prerequisites are admitted to the study is the selection procedure.



Additional information

Applicants graduating in the school year 2023/2024 and earlier will send all necessary attachments with their application.
Applicants graduating in the school year 2024/2025 will submit all necessary attachments, except for the 4th grade report card and the high school diploma, which will be submitted by a deadline to be determined by the faculty and which will be communicated to the applicant in writing in a timely manner.

Conditions for international students

The conditions of admission of foreigners, foreign students or students who have completed their secondary studies abroad are the same as the conditions of admission of students who have completed their secondary studies in the Slovak Republic and are citizens of the Slovak Republic, but the following point must be taken into account. Proof of equivalence of education shall be provided by the applicant no later than on the day of enrolment.

Conditions of admission without the entrance exam

The selection procedure consists of:

1. An assessment of the merits achieved during secondary education. The overall average from the secondary school from 3.6 to 1.0 is expressed linearly in the following values: average 1.0.... 100 points to 3.6 ... 0 points. Average in profiling subjects - biology, physics, chemistry. The last mark on the report card in each of these subjects will be counted. For each profiling subject, the grades will be scored: 1=9 points, 2=6 points, 3=3 points , 4=0 points.

2. For each non-specific activity, the candidate will receive 2 points

8. Applicants who have completed secondary school studies abroad shall submit nostrified documents of education in accordance with Act No 422/2015 Coll. on the Recognition of Documents of Education and on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts.

The applicant shall submit the following documents of education

Those applicants who have not passed the matriculation examination in Slovak or Czech language must also pass a test in Slovak language - level B1, which will be prepared by the faculty, as part of the admission procedure. Only applicants who achieve at least 60% success in the Slovak language test may be included in the selection procedure according to point 1.

Form of entrance exam

Admission of applicants for the first stage of higher education (Bachelor's degree) in full-time form is based on the selection procedure on the basis of study results from secondary school and at the same time non-specific assessment: knowledge of English language (certificate in English, participation in the SOT, other). The applicant is required to submit a certificate of medical fitness in terms of the criteria required for medical disciplines. Admission to the Bc. studies is a matriculation diploma in Slovak language. Applicants who do not meet this condition will take a test in Slovak language to check their communication skills in Slovak language at B1 level.
